Overview

AJ Chauradia is an Assistant Professor of Strategy at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, India. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in strategy and entrepreneurship. AJ’s research examines firms’ human capital strategies: what are they, how to generate a competitive advantage from them, and when can they increase firm performance? In his dissertation, AJ investigates the two main ways firms augment their human capital: developing rookie hires, and acquiring experienced hires. He seeks to advance this area of research in the strategic human capital literature. He uses a panel data set that he constructed by combining secondary sources on the largest U.S. law firms over the last two decades. His goal is to leverage this data to pursue deeper inquiries into human capital strategies. Many of AJ’s working papers have earned nominations for best conference paper and have been published in the Academy of Management’s Best Paper Proceedings. In addition, AJ has received research grants from EY and a visiting fellowship from CABE at the University of Melbourne.

AJ enjoys teaching strategic management, talent management, and stakeholder analysis to graduates and professionals. He contributes to his department and institution by coordinating research camps and seminar visits, as well as informally mentoring/advising students. In his spare time, AJ practices martial arts and spends time with his family.
