Lada Guruden Singh

Director- Creative Development, Sony Pictures International Productions

I am responsible for the P&L of SPIP India with the mandate to build its India slate across long features and mini series, in Hindi & other regional languages.Having worked at Sony Pictures Group since 2014 in multiple capacities, across public relations, marketing & creative development, I consider myself enormously lucky to have had such varied experiences. To that extent, I marvel at the culture we have at Sony that encourages its employees to keep pushing the boundaries purely on the basis of their talent, delivery & ambition. Interestingly, I have been told that after Uday Shankar, I am the second journalist to head an international entertainment company. No Pressure -:)

My biggest achievement at Sony Pictures India, so far, however, has been identifying and bringing the most coveted Indian super hero IP - Shaktimaan, to the Sony family, as a trilogy for the cinemas.
I have led the studio’s expansion in Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil. It’s been possible on the back of either my strong relationships with the respective industry stalwarts or because of our in-house content development. It has allowed me to create a unique space for myself as one of the few studio executives with direct reach to the top talent of different industries.
I am committed to developing in house content and ensuring the Studio is hands on through and through. I have also built a robust creative development team with deep relationships across the industry. Furthermore, we not only develop content with our producer partners but also mount them bringing the right talent on board.
A former television journalist and show host with Headlines Today ( India Today Channel) where I led the Entertainment input team in Mumbai, I switched industry since I fell in love with the business of making movies while covering it .Since Jan 2013, I have worked with Fox Star Studios, Disney India and was with Sony’s MSM Motion Pictures ( Now Sony Pictures Networks Productions) before I moved to Sony Pictures International Productions, India working on some of the most critically and commercially acclaimed films.
Writing is my second love - I often write on cinema and art. I am a published poet with two collections of poems, Split Ends and Where Must I go, and had good fortune to become the biographer of well-known visual arts critic Subbudu, at the age of 22 with the release of Beyond Destiny: The Life and Times of Subbudu .The biography was translated in Tamil on recommendation of then President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
Oh & finally,I like keeping fit..we are in the vanity business after all!
