The Finance Club at ISB Hyderabad Campus boasts of >140 members coming from finance and non-finance backgrounds. The club focuses on driving initiatives in the finance domain and intends to further the cause of finance at ISB. The team consists of 8 talented people spread with an average work experience of 5 years who work on creating awareness on different domains in the financial services industry. The club not only educates the students but also reaches out to industry veterans and has periodic speaker sessions to expose students to the various practical aspects of finance. 

The Finance Club has its flagship event, Artha scheduled for October 6, 2018. This event is a medium through which the club tries to create synergies between ISB and the Finance Community within India. 

Thus, it is through these initiatives that the Finance Club tries to create a connect between the students and the outside world thereby providing students with a holistic experience in finance and ensuring that they are better prepared to handle the nuances of the financial services industry in practical life.


-        Dissecting Finance: (5th June 2018) We discussed what finance is all about for the benefit of finance and non- finance club members. Starting from what Banking is, to the role of Capital Markets, to why financing is the key driver of economic growth and how MBAs come into the picture. We covered the entire gamut of subsectors, and explored ideas that may change the industry landscape.
-        Fintech domain: (17th June 2018) A session conducted by Abhishant Pant- founder of “Cashless Journey” and “Fintech Yatra” provided students an insight into the Fintech Landscape in India, regulatory challenges, ideas on fintech enterprise solutions among other things
-        Love Excel: (8th June 2018) With the increase in real life uses of MS Excel- the finance club conducted a P2P session to help students become proficient at Excel
-        Speaker/Alum/Professor Sessions:
o   Utsav Baijal: (7th June 2018) Utsav is a Partner at Apollo Global Management LLC, one of the largest private equity firms in the world, where he primarily focusses on distressed asset investing. He previously worked at Bain Capital in their Boston office, primarily focusing on the consumer and retail sectors. The agenda of the session included:
·       Evolution of Private Equity in India
·       Changing scenario with distressed asset investing
·       Perspective on post- ISB careers in Private Equity & Consulting
·       Skills required in the Private Equity industry
·       His journey from B-School to McKinsey to Private Equity
o   Arvind Guruprasad: (20th May, 2018) Mr. Arvind Guruprasad (Co2010) spoke on his professional journey, careers in finance, fin-tech, and analytics, and his role as Sr. Vice President, Risk Management @ Goldman Sachs.
o   Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramanian: (22nd May, 2018) Address on basics of Banking covering topics such as:
·       Concept of a Bank Run
·       Importance of perception in Banking
·       How is Banking different from other businesses?
·       What is Capital used for?
Sowmya Narasimhan: (15th June 2018) Sowmya Narasimhan (Co2016) had a closed group interaction about Investment Banking covering topics such as what’s the profile about and how to prepare for IB roles
