International Conference on Digital Identity:

The Digital Identity Research Initiative (DIRI) at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad announces the inaugural International Conference on Digital Identity being held between July 11-13, 2018 at the ISB campus in Hyderabad, India. This edition of the conference focuses on Aadhaar, the world’s largest biometric identification system developed by the Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI).

The Digital Identity Research Initiative at ISB has three goals:
  • Production of high quality and timely research on digital identity, with a focus on Aadhaar, to address critical knowledge gaps
  • Targeted engagement with relevant stakeholders to ensure that research results can inform policy and strategy decisions, while the findings are effectively disseminated to ensure easy and wider access
  • Build a global research ecosystem for Digital Identity, with a focus on India

The launch of Digital Identity Research Initiative:

The Digital Identity Research Initiative at the Indian School of Business was launched on July 5, 2017 in New Delhi by Shri. Arjun Ram Meghwal, Honourable Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs in the presence of Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO, UIDAI; Professor Rajendra Srivastava, Dean, ISB; Roopa Kudva, Partner and Managing Director, India at Omidyar Network; Ronald Abraham, Partner, IDinsight and representatives from leading academic institutions, business leaders and officials from the government. The launch event was preceded by a round table on the challenges and research questions on Aadhaar with particular focus on implications of Aadhaar across areas such as benefit transfers, financial inclusion, healthcare schemes, public distribution systems and public policy. It was attended, among others, by Shri.Gopalakrishnan, IAS; Suresh Sethi, CEO M-Pesa; Malavika Raghavan, Project Head - Future of Finance Initiative, IFMR Trust; Manoj Sharma, MD, MicroSave and Dr. Faizan Mustafa, Vice Chancellor, NALSAR.
