Ajay Bhalla
Professor of Family Business and Innovation, CASS Business School, London

Ajay Bhalla is Professor of Family Business and Innovation at Cass Business School in London. He also sits on the board of Institute for Family Business (IFB) Research Foundation- which represents some of the largest family businesses in the UK. He has held a Visiting Scholar position at ISB from 2009-2010.

His work involves helping families, executive and organizations develop the mind-sets and capabilities to become more resilient in times of uncertainty. Over the last decade, his work on ownership and resilience has helped shape UK government’s policy on employee ownership. He has published extensively and won multiple awards for his research- the most prestigious of this being for producing impactful managerial research at the 73rd Annual Academy of Management.
Ajith Kumar Rai K

K. Ajith Kumar Rai is the Founder & CMD of the Suprajit Group of Companies. He holds a Master’s degree in Engineering  from the Technical University  of  Novascotia, Canada. After completing his Masters, Ajith returned to India and set-up first generation enterprise - SUPRAJIT Engineering, a small scale unit, in technical collaboration with M/s Toh Fon Machine Company Limited, Taiwan, to manufacture Automotive Control Cables. Today, Suprajit Engineering Limited is a listed company and has rapidly grown both organically (by capacity expansion) and through acquisitions of halogen bulbs maker Phoenix Lamps Limited and non-automotive cable maker Wescon Controls, a Wichita, Kansas, USA, based firm. Ajith provides strategic direction to the group’s four fully owned global subsidiaries in USA, UK, Luxembourg and Germany.
As a first generation technocrat entrepreneur, Ajith conceptualized, planned and executed the first cable plant. Over the past 30 years he has gained exhaustive and comprehensive experience and in-depth exposure in management by setting up new plants, getting new customers, developing suppliers, building the team, and working closely with all stakeholders. He also gained hands on experience in M& A and setting up International businesses. Ajith has developed the management philosophy of `De-risk and grow profitably.’ He is member of American Institute of Industrial Engineers, CII, ACMA, and is an active Rotarian. He is involved in many CSR initiatives through Suprajit Foundation.
Amala Akkineni
Director - Annapurna International School for Film and Media and Co-Founder and Chairperson, Blue Cross of Hyderabad

Amala Akkineni has had a successful career in Indian cinema (1985 – 1992) spanning 50 films as leading lady in five Indian languages (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi). She completed her education in Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts at Chennai and toured extensively with the Kalakshetra dance troupe both in India and abroad during her training in classical Bharatanatyam. As a film personality she often highlights issues that need focus for social change. Her personal interests include connecting with animals and nature. Amala is the co-founder and Chairperson of Blue Cross of Hyderabad, an animal welfare organization that has helped over 430,000 animals since its inception. She is currently an ambassador for the Swachch Bharat Mission. Amala has worked for the last 25 years supporting various non-governmental and governmental organizations serving on boards and as a Trustee for social change, addressing issues in animal welfare, wildlife protection, girl child welfare, rural women’s empowerment, HIV awareness, and environment preservation. 

Amala is married to Film actor and producer Akkineni Nagarjuna. In 2012, she returned to films playing select cameo roles in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films and Tamil Television. Her background in Films and Television and her social commitment, led her to be appointed as Director, Annapurna International School for Film and Media, set up in the heart of Annapurna Studios at Hyderabad. In this Management and mentoring role, Amala seeks to fulfill the dream of Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, to guide young people on an informed path for professions in Film & Media.
Anil Sainani

Ann-Veruschka Jurisch
Director, Ernst Schmidheiny Foundation, Switzerland

Ann-Veruschka is a director of the Ernst Schmidheiny Foundation which promotes economic literacy programmes with a focus on Switzerland. From 2010 to 2018, she served as the managing director of the foundation. Recently, she re-joined Spectrum Value Management Ltd., a Swiss-based single family office that manages the industrial and private investments of the Thomas Schmidheiny family as Head of Family Philanthropy and Foundations. Dr. Aravind Srinivasan is an ophthalmologist and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. After his MBA, he took over as the Administrator of Aravind Eye Care System and was instrumental in bringing changes to various facets of the organization. From 2011, he is serving the organization in the role of Director-Projects of Aravind Eye Care System. He is the Board of Govel Trust that runs the Aravind eye hospitals. From September 2017, he is leading the Aravind Eye Hospital Chennai as Chief Medical Officer. Apart from administrating the institution, he also performs surgeries and takes care of the patients. Mr. Deepak Parekh is a globally renowned business leader. Farhad is Co-Chairman of Forbes Marshall. He has been at Forbes Marshall since 1982. Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp

Professor Ramachandran (Ram) is the Executive Director of the Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise at the Indian School of Business. He has specialized in family business, entrepreneurship and strategy and has over 30 years of experience as an academic at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and the Indian School of Business. He did his Ph.D. from the Cranfield University, UK. He has authored/edited seven books and published extensively in reputed Indian and overseas journals. His consulting experience includes areas such as family business governance, professionalization, succession planning, strategic planning, identification of new opportunities for growth, corporate entrepreneurship and turn-around strategies in family and non-family environments. Lavanya Nalli
Vice Chairperson, Nalli Group

Lavanya Nalli is a hands-on leader with 13 years of experience across retail, e-commerce, strategy and operations. She started her career with the Nalli Group – a $100M national retail chain marketing silk sarees – where she focused on new business development and growth opportunities, retail store operations, and a private-label. She later launched a sub-brand that penetrated untapped markets, and incubated a venture that empowered artisanal communities by bringing design-led products to market. During her tenure, Nalli doubled its revenues, and expanded from 14 to 21 stores.

Mohan Reddy BVR
Executive Chairman, Cyient Limited

Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Cyient (formerly Infotech Enterprises), an information technology firm with about 15,000 engineering professionals working in 47 locations across 21 countries. Dr. Reddy has around thirty years of Engineering and Management Experience. He has served as the Chairman of NASSCOM (National Association of Software & Service Companies) in India (2015-16). He was the Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region (2008-2009) and is currently the Co-Chair of its Education Council. Dr. Reddy is also the Founding Director of T-Hub, the largest start-up incubation centre in India. He is the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and also serves on the Board of Coromandel International Limited. Dr. Reddy is currently the Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT-Hyderabad and is a member on the Boards of  National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI).   
Dr. Reddy received India’s fourth highest civilian award—the Padma Shri—in 2017 for his contribution to trade and industry. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Award of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (CIE Division) in 2011 and received corporate excellence award from Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC). He was felicitated as the “Distinguished Scientist” by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) in 2010 and designated as a distinguished alumnus of IIT-Kanpur. He received “Outstanding Achievement Award” by All India Manufacturers’ Organization (2004), and received “Outstanding Entrepreneur of the year” award by Ernst & Young (1999-2000). Dr. Reddy holds postgraduate degrees from IIT-Kanpur, and the University of Michigan, USA. He is the recipient of honorary doctorates from JNTU-Hyderabad, JNTU-Kakinada, Andhra University, and KL University.

 M M Murugappan is Chairman of the Corporate and Supervisory Board of the Murugappa Group.  He Chairs the Boards of Coromandel International Ltd (CIL), Tube Investments of India (TII), Carborundum Universal (CUMI), Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company Ltd and Cholamandalam Mitsui Sumitomo General Insurance Company Ltd.  Murugappan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the AC College of Technology, University of Madras, India and a Master of Science Degree also in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA.

In 2004, he took over as Chairman of CUMI, and played a pivotal role in transforming it into an international company driven by technology and innovation.  In 2006, Murugappan was appointed Chairman of Tube Investments of India.  At TII too he has facilitated relationships with global leaders and has encouraged research, innovation and strong customer partnerships.  Murugappan is an independent director on the boards of various companies outside the Murugappa Group such as Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Cyient Ltd. He has served on the Board of Governors of IIT Madras, for six years till November 2011 and has enabled many industry–academic partnerships.  He now serves on the board of the IIT-Madras Research Park and is a mentor to many companies incubated there. 

As Trustee of the Group’s AMM Foundation, he is actively involved in the development of various citizenship initiatives, particularly in education, health care, performing arts and sport. Professor Pramodita Sharma is the Daniel Clark Sanders Chair Professor in Entrepreneurship and Family Business at the Grossman School of Business, University of Vermont, USA. She is a Visiting Professor at the Kellogg School of Management’s Center for Family Enterprises, Northwestern University, USA. Pramodita holds honorary doctorates from the Jönköping University in Sweden, and the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany. She is amongst the most frequently cited scholars in family business studies. Her research on family enterprises has been honoured with several international awards. He has been actively involved in setting up several academic programmes and research centres and initiatives in close collaboration with industry. He has also been involved in consulting and senior management training with global MNCs and brings a unique blend of experiences integrating academic and business perspectives from the west and the east. Before joining the ISB, Rajendra Srivastava was the Provost and Deputy President of Academic Affairs at Singapore Management University. Prior to SMU he held distinguished research chairs and senior management positions at the University of Texas at Austin and Emory University in Atlanta. 
Ramnarayan S
Professor, Indian School of Business

Professor S Ramnarayan has spent over three decades in academia as Professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, the Indian School of Business, and visiting faculty at the University of Bamberg, Germany and at his Alma Mater the Case Western Reserve University. He has carried out research funded by Ford Foundation, World Bank, Commonwealth Secretariat, Department for International Development, Human Capital Leadership Institute, and German Science Foundation. He has served on the Boards of business organizations and educational and social service institutions, and has received awards from leading professional bodies for his contributions. Apart from research papers, monographs and case studies, Ram has co-authored nine books on topics of Leading Change, Altering Mindsets, Organization Development, Strategic Management of Public Enterprises and Managerial Dilemmas. An engineering graduate, MBA and Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior at the Case Western University at Cleveland, Ohio, he has been a manager, consultant and professor at different stages of his career.
Sougata Ray
Professor of Strategy, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta

 Professor Sougata Ray is a Professor of Strategic Management at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. Professor Ray’s research interests are in strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship and governance of firms in high growth economies. He received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Enginnering, Science and Technology, Shibpur and his Ph.D from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Professor Ray has been extensively researhing on how policy induced changes in institutional environment influence strategic behaviour of emerging economy firms and how differences in quasi institutional environment, heterogeneity of firm characteristics and strategic intent of the top management lead to variations in strategy for growth, internationalization, innovations, entrepreneurship, base of the pyramid and corporate sustainability of firms and business groups. His research has appeared in journals such as Organization Science, Global Strategy Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Ethics and Management International Review. Professor Ray sits on the boards of several listed and unlisted companies, start ups and social enterprises. He serves as a consultant to a number of medium-sized companies and family business groups on strategic and organisational issues. He has also advised national and state governments on attracting investments, forming industry clusters and improving the competitiveness of local industry.
Suneeta Reddy

A member of the founding family, Suneeta Reddy joined the Apollo Hospitals Group in 1989. Suneeta Reddy is the Managing Director of the Apollo Hospitals Group. Spearheading the finance function, her financial acumen has been the key factor in the group's dramatic growth and profitability. Suneeta now steers the corporate strategy, corporate finance, funding and investments and will be leveraging M&As to achieve objectives of an accelerated pace of growth and in optimizing profitability. She is a Director on the Board of Apollo Munich-Re Health Insurance Company Ltd and serves on the Board of several Apollo Hospitals' Group companies. She is a member of the Harvard Business School Medical Advisory Board & India Advisory Board (IAB). She is the Chairperson of the CII’s Public Health Committee FY 18-19 & the Chairperson of the 15th Annual India Health Summit 2018. She is also a Director on the Board of Chennai International Centre (CIC), a platform for free thought and expression on a diverse set of topics. Thomas Schmidheiny is Chairman and Founder of his family office Spectrum Value Management Ltd. Spectrum manages the investments of the Schmidheiny family. After studying mechanical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ), Dr. h.c. Schmidheiny began his career as a Technical Director with Cementos Apasco (1970-1971). In 1973 he joined “Holderbank” Financière Glaris
Ltd (which became Holcim), where he served as Managing Director and Chairman (1978-2001) and Chairman of the Board (1984-2003). He has been a member of the Holcim Board of Directors until 2018. In recognition of his many years of service to LafargeHolcim, the Board of Directors has decided to name Thomas Schmidheiny Honorary Chairman of the Group. He is a principal stockholder of LafargeHolcim.
Dr. h.c. Schmidheiny is also a board member and major shareholder of the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. He received an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration from Tufts University (USA) and holds an MBA from IMD. His particular interest is philanthropy: he engages in large donations and sponsoring to business schools, arts, education and start-ups through his foundations.
Unnikrishnan MS
Managing Director and CEO, Thermax Group

M. S. Unnikrishnan is the Managing Director & CEO of Thermax Group, the energy and environment solutions major. Mr. Unnikrishnan has over 35 years of experience in engineering and business management and leadership roles. He began his career with Thermax as a trainee engineer after graduating from VNIT, Nagpur in 1982. Later, he established the marketing set up for the Energy division of Thermax in the Western Region. Thereafter he worked and led various initiatives at EID Parry and Terrazzo Inc, U.A.E. In 1997, Mr. Unnikrishnan rejoined Thermax as General Manager. During this tenure, he brought a turnaround in the Waste Management and Absorption Cooling business of the company.  In 2000, he was inducted as a member of the Executive Council Group of Thermax.  He managed Corporate Sourcing, HR and all the project businesses of the company. In 2007, Mr. Unnikrishnan was elevated to the Managing Director & CEO of Thermax Limited. 
He is a graduate in Advanced Management Program from the Harvard Business School, USA. He Chairs the CII National Committee of Industrial Relations. He has chaired the Capital Goods Skill Council Committee under the National Skill Development Corporation. He also chaired the Skills Working Group of BRICS Business Council in 2016.  He is Member of the Development Council constituted by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, to create strategies for the industrial development of the country.  Mr. Unnikrishnan is a member of the AICTE Jury Committee for annual ranking of technical and management institutes of the country. He also co-chairs the Apex Council to implement the ‘Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research.’ Mr. Unnikrishnan has been honoured with the ‘Asia Innovator Award’ at the 11th CNBC Asia Business Leaders Awards, in 2012. He was awarded the ‘Distinguished Alumni’ of VNIT, Nagpur, in 2010
Vivek Bhandari
Chairman, Jio Payments Bank

Vivek Bhandari is the Chairman of Jio Payments Bank. He has earlier served as the Director and Professor of Social Science at the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA). Vivek serves on the boards of many professional and academic institutions, as well as committees convened by the Indian government on matters pertaining to rural development. He has worked with the World Economic Forum and has held academic positions at numerous academic institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Hampshire College, and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Vivek’s writings have appeared in the Journal of Asian StudiesComparative Studies of South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, in edited volumes, and reference works such as the International Encyclopedia for the Social Sciences, and the Encyclopedia of Modern Asia. When he was IRMA’s director, Vivek was included in Business Today magazine's list of India's Top Twenty-Five 'Young Executives Under the Age of 40'. Vivek holds M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Earlier, he completed B.A. (Honours) and M.A. from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.
