The Office of Advancement at the Indian School of Business engages with the school’s alumni, private corporations, foundations, and individuals to further the cause of advancement by soliciting funding for the student’s scholarships, faculty, research, school’s infrastructure, and the upcoming initiatives of the school, etc.
 

About the position

ISB is seeking applications for an Associate Director - Major Gifts at the Office of Advancement. The position holder will be responsible for designing, developing, and leading the Major Gift Programme at the ISB. They will be expected to persuade prospects and persevere to the end to receive major gifts for the school. They must possess strong communication and strategy skills and be uncompromisingly committed to quality and ownership of outcomes and results. The position holder’s work location will be the Mohali Campus of the ISB.
 

Key Responsibilities for this position

  • Identify, Cultivate, and Steward Donors/Prospects: Identifying major gift prospects through primary and secondary research and developing compelling engagement strategies to solicit and close gifts. Identifying, developing, and cultivating a significant prospects pipeline as part of ISB’s evolving fundraising strategy
  • Portfolio Management: Building and managing the major donor prospect list, ensure that information is being tracked on a timely basis, and that progress toward goals is tracked and monitored
  • Creation of communication strategies: Developing communication strategies for internal and external audiences including donors and potential donors. This will include aspects such as editing content for the website and social media platforms
  • Event management and participation: Planning and coordinating events for the major gift programme; participating in any other institutional advancement activities and events
  • Co-ordination with ISB’s departments: Closely collaborate with faculty, research centres and other departments and stakeholders of ISB
  • Contact point for queries: Serving as the contact for questions and queries regarding the major gift programme
  • Securing the major gift targets
     

Candidate profile

Ideal candidates will have a keen interest in fundraising and outstanding oral and written communication, strategy, and stakeholder management skills. They also must have demonstrated resilience and perseverance in their prior assignments.
 

Desired education and experience

  • Working knowledge of fundraising, alumni relations, donor stewardship
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, including acumen to convey information effectively verbally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience; active listening skills; the ability to persuade others; and to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the campus and with external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, analytical, project management, and critical thinking skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, exercise good judgment, and work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Good to have: 8-10 years of relevant experience in fundraising, donor management, sales, or in any other related field along with a bachelor’s degree
  • Good to have: A prior background of having worked for top educational institutions/non-profit organisations
