Basu, Shreya
Research Assistant Shreya has a double Masters degree in Geography and Geographical information sciences and remote sensing. She is currently working on potential forest restoration mapping project where she is using her expertise of GIS and remote sensing skills to find how this project will overall impact the climate. She has always been involved in creation of maps and query analysis through maps for different projects, worked extensively on secondary datasets and also has been on the field for few projects. She has significantly contributed in creating a Rainfed atlas of India.
Bakhla, Nirali
Research Associate Nirali holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from Sri Ram College of Commerce and a Masters degree from IGIDR, Mumbai. She also pursued Master of Philosophy from IGIDR (2018) and has worked on various projects in the area of Common Pool Resource, Quality of Land, Women Empowerment and Nutrition . Her M.Phil thesis was on “Common Pool Resources (CPRs) as Source of Food in Rural India”. Prior to joining the Forest Governance team as a Research Associate she worked as a Research Associate in IGIDR for Project SPANDAN where she primarily worked on structuring the survey data.
Bhave, Vipul
Research Associate
Vipul graduated with a master’s degree in Forestry from Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. His broad research interest is in applications of Remote Sensing & GIS in Agriculture & Forestry, Climate Change & Forests, and Forest-based livelihoods. Prior to joining Forest Governance team, he worked with Rythu Sadhikara Samstha, Government of Andhra Pradesh as Young Professional with the project Climate Resilient Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF). He also has two post-Masters Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun and in Rural Development Management from National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad
Chhaterjee, Avijit
Project Specialist Avijit holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from Calcutta University. Before joining the Forest Governance team as a Project Specialist, he was associated with Vikalp Social Organisation where he worked with forest dependent Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dependent working people across Uttar Pradesh, parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. He has extensive experience in training communities in the process of claiming rights as per FRA, building awareness about FRA Rights, etc.
Duddu, Apurva N S
Research Associate Apurva holds a Masters degree in Natural Resources and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and has been associated with ISB as a Research Associate (RA) since the last one year. She has been actively working on Forest related datasets and currently is a part of the Forest Governance team. She has played an instrumental role in- Setting up of Socio-Ecological Monitoring System, Project Monitoring System and CFR Census.
G, Dhanpal
Senior Analyst Dhanapal has a master’s degree in Environment Management from Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. His research interest is in Forest and Landscape Restoration for biodiversity conservation and improving the livelihood of forest-dependent communities with a current focus in the central Indian landscape. He has worked on several forestry projects and ecological studies funded by organizations like WRI, World Bank, DFID and USAID.
Gurazada, Madhulika
Research Associate
Madhulika holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Economics from University of Hyderabad. After a brief stint as a Data Analyst at Cognizant, she joined ISB as a Research Associate. She worked on a project funded by Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation looking at the impact of emissions from coal-fired power plants on health in India using atmospheric chemistry model and integrated exposure-response functions.
Guthala, Hemanth
Research Associate
Hemanth Guthala holds a master’s degree in Quantitative Economics from Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi and Bachelors in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He is currently working with the  Forest Governance team on the Project management tool and research on sustainability issues. Prior to this, he had worked as a consultant for Deloitte USI.
Gupta, Shivani
Research Associate
Shivani pursued her bachelors in economics from Delhi University and completed her masters in economics, specializing in environmental economics from Madras School of Economics, Chennai. During her masters, she worked on transportation, climate change, health valuation, mental illness, energy, and forestry among others. After completing post-graduation, she joined as a consultant in the data science and analytics team of Capgemini India. She joined the Indian School of Business in 2017 as a Research Associate and is working in the area of agriculture and climate change.
Gupta, Divya
Senior Research Fellow
Divya Gupta has worked extensively on natural resource governance issues for almost ten years. Her research is multi-disciplinary in nature and operates at the intersections of several fields within the human dimensions of natural resources.  These include forest policies and politics; collaborative forest governance across government agencies, NGOs, citizens, and industries; equitable resource distribution; sustainable development; and climate change discourse.
Divya got her Ph.D. in Environment and Natural Resources from the Ohio State University. Her undergraduate degree is in Botany and masters degree in Environmental Studies, both from University of Delhi.

Project Associate Nitisha is an experienced Project Associate with a demonstrated history of working organizations like Apple and Google. She has worked in different domains with skill sets spanning, General Management, Project Management, Customer Service and Microsoft Office. She has a degree in Aviation and Hospitality Industry. 
Jadhav, Sayali
Research Associate Sayali holds a Masters degree in science from S.P. Pune University in Geoinformatics. Prior to joining the Forest Governance team as a Research Associate, she worked as a Teaching Associate (TA) in the Department of Geoinformatics. She also worked as a Research Intern at National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research under the supervision of Dr. Shridhar Jawak and Dr. Alvarinho Luis where she used GIS and remote sensing methods to analyze high-resolution (1m) satellite image to extract Blue-ice-regions (BIRs).
Johny, Anu
Project Specialist
Anu has done her graduation in Sociology from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University. She also holds a Masters degree in Development Studies from Ambedkar University Delhi. She has been working with Prof Ashwini Chhatre since the past four years. She has worked on research designing and has been coordinating data collection during the period. In the ‘Forest Governance Project’, she will be working on the designing and setting up of ‘Social Ecological Monitoring Survey’.

Research Assistant Sneha has completed her bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Mumbai in 2014 and pursued her master’s degree in Rural Development and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 2018. Before, joining TISS, she has worked as Field Investigator with Department of Economics and Public Policy, University of Mumbai under the guidance of Prof. Neeraj Hatekar and Prof. Sandhya Mhatre for a project on Thane District Human Development Report. She joined Indian School of Business (ISB) in September 2018 as a Research Associate and working with Forest Governance Team and has been coordinating data collection on socio-ecological monitoring survey.

Research Assistant Megha holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from Amrita University, Coimbatore. Before joining the Forest Governance team as a Research Assistant, she was associated with a research team working on CAMPA in Odisha, compiling notifications of protected forests, and creating hard data on the amount of land lost in the name of offsetting forest diversion in Odisha to be used by civil society organizations. She began her career at L&T Technology Services, where she worked for nearly 4 years in multiple roles across the Testing horizontal and the Building Automation and Machinery vertical, following which she spent a year working at LiquidHub as a Market Research Analyst, based in Hyderabad

Mondal, Sanjoy
Research Coordinator
Sanjoy completed his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Burdwan in 2009. Post completion he worked as an intern for the RRAN project. Currently, he is working as a Research Coordinator in the Forest Governance team. His job involves traveling to Madhya Pradesh (Dewas and Khandwa), Odisha(Malkangiri), West Bengal (Bankura), Maharashtra(Nashik), and Jharkhand (Chattarpur) for various data collection activities and GIS mapping of forest area. He has developed polygon of more than 130 forests across states and created a land-use map of 20 villages of West Bengal.

Research Associate Arun holds Master’s degree in Geoinformatics from TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) School of advanced studies, New Delhi. He worked in multiple research projects as Research intern, which involved intensive data handling and analysis. He joined Indian School of Business as a Research Associate and is currently working with Forest Governance team in information extraction and analysis of remotely sensed datasets.
Palisetty, Leelavathi
Project Specialist Leela has worked in multiple projects for over 26 years and has been associated with various State Governments, NIRDPR and UNDP. She worked as a visiting fellow at NIRDPR for more than 4 years and as Director of Social Audit Unit of Chhattisgarh. She also developed the SDG roadmap for Gujarat and Uttarakhand states when she was with UNDP and gained vast experience in conducting workshops and training besides research, monitoring, and evaluation of poverty alleviation programs. She is capable of developing networks of organizations for effective implementation of various policies.  She did her Postgraduation in agriculture sciences and Ph.D in Rural Development.  At present, she is working as a Project Specialist in the Tenure Facility project.
Pradhan, Nabin
Chief Data Scientist
Nabin Pradhan is a Chief Data Scientist at the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, ISB. He affiliates to Prof. Ashwini Chhatre’s lab and currently focusing on multidisciplinary applied research using artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques in the spectrum of development and public policy. He is involved in multiple research project blend with nature, economic, and human systems. Some of the selected research works are the agricultural yield, climate extremes, community managed forests, livelihood, and well being, etc.
He is working with a cross-functional team to develop a cloud-based data analytics platform using primary and publicly available data for decision-makers and community users. He is interested in coupling geospatial analytics and remote sensing product to study the cross-sectional and temporal changes.
Before joining academic research, he spent more than a decade in the software industry in various capacity. Nabin is an alumnus of ISB’s CBA program, IIMC’s CPMSD and attended a double Masters degree in Geography and Information Technology.
Prakash, Anjal
Research Director and Adjunct Associate Professor
Dr. Anjal Prakash is Research Director and Adjunct Associate Professor, Bharti Institute of Public Policy, Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad India. Before joining ISB, Dr. Prakash worked with TERI- School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi, India as an Associate Professor in the Department of Regional Water Studies. His earlier association was with International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), in Kathmandu, Nepal where he was the Coordinator of the programme - Himalayan Adaptation, Water and Resilience (HI-AWARE) Research on Glacier and Snowpack Dependent River Basins. Before joining ICIMOD in 2014, Dr Prakash led the South Asia Consortium for Interdisciplinary Water Resources Studies (SaciWATERs) as Executive Director. SaciWATERs is a south Asian thinktank that works in six countries of South Asia. His earlier associations were with WaterAid, New Delhi , Water and Sanitation Management Organisation (WASMO), Gandhinagar, Gujarat and VIKSAT, Ahmedabad, India. Read more

Durga is an Engineer in Electronics. Post her engineering, she did her MBA in rural management from IRMA (Institute of Rural management Anand). Prior joining ISB, she worked as  Dy.SP in state police services of Odisha, as CSR (Corporate social responsibility) manager in Arnapurna MFI and as Dy. Manager in the ICT dept. of NDDB (National Dairy Development Board), Gujarat. Her specializations include Project management and Content management.”

Sakshi holds a master’s degree in Economics from Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai and a bachelor’s degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi. She joined as a Research Associate under Prof. Ashwini Chhatre at ISB in 2018 and has worked on varied topics such as Water Resource management, Agricultural cost and production, and Wildlife conservation.
Thakkar, Shriya
Research Assistant Shriya Thakkar holds a Bachelors (BSc) and Masters (MSc) degree in Anthropology from Hans Raj College, University of Delhi, India. As an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship holder, she recently completed her Double Masters (MA) in Women & Gender Studies from the University of Hull (UK) – Utrecht University (The Netherlands). She has previously worked in a couple of ICSSR funded projects and undertaken extensive fieldwork within the Western as well as North-Eastern India. Her prior engagements remain with the Royal Tropical Institute (Amsterdam) where she worked as a Policy Research Intern, The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI) as a fellow and IIM, Ahmedabad as a Teaching Assistant.

Yashashree has more than 3 years of experience that includes working as a science educator in the DST funded Science Express Climate Action Special, Project Officer at Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad and Project Fellow at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. She has completed her BSc (Hons.) Zoology, MSc Environmental Sciences and MPhil. Environmental Science and Sustainable Development. Her theses work includes quantification of carbon and provisioning ecosystem services in the Western Ghats and assessment of soil moisture estimation tool (STM2). She also completed certification courses in climate change and environmental law and policy as well as PgDiploma in Urban Environment Management and Law. She has joined Prof. Ashwini Chhatre in the Tenure Facility project as a Project Specialist to engage the corporate sector for endorsing CFR, prior to this she worked on ecological assessment of linear infrastructure to propose mitigation measures.
