Gopal Srinivasan

Gopal Srinivasan is the Chairman and Managing Director of TVS Capital Funds (TCF), a leading growth-focused private equity platform established in 2007. With a corpus of approximately ₹5,000 crores, TCF is the largest Indian rupee capital fund in the country. Under Gopal’s leadership, TCF has invested in over 35 companies, including notable names such as Nykaa, RBL Bank, the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), GoDigit, Yubi, Five Star, Insurance Dekho, and Sarvagram. 

A third-generation member of the TVS family, Gopal has a rich entrepreneurial career spanning more than three decades, during which he has founded and scaled over 10 ventures across diverse industries. 

A firm believer in the transformative power of education, Gopal has significantly contributed to academic institutions, including his alma mater. He serves on the University of Michigan Ross School of Business Advisory Board and has been a governing board member of institutions such as Great Lakes Institute of Management, IFMR Chennai, and Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), Chennai. 

Gopal has been a key figure in shaping the venture capital and private equity landscape in India. He is a board member of the Indian Venture Capital Association (IVCA) and has contributed to policymaking as a member of SEBI’s Alternative Investment Policy Advisory Committee (AIPAC) since 2016. Additionally, he has served on the board of the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) since its inception in December 2020. 

An advocate for entrepreneurship, Gopal is a founding member of The Chennai Angels and TiE Chennai. He also serves as a non-official member of the National Start-up Advisory Council (NSAC) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). 

Gopal’s commitment to intellectual and cultural development in Chennai led to the founding of the Chennai International Centre (CIC), where he serves as Chairman. CIC has become a vibrant think tank, bringing together thought leaders from business, economics, policy, science, art, and governance to foster dialogue and innovation.
