Job Purpose

To extend support to LRC sectional activities related to Acquisition, Serial Control, Circulation, Electronic Information Services, Case Studies & Copyright Permissions, and other shared responsibilities, including Reference Services, Data Compilation, Research Support, Shelf Management, and In-house keeping.

 

Job Outline

At ISB, the Learning Resource Center (LRC) plays a key role in providing all stakeholders with the required information or knowledge resources on diverse topics. It gives necessary readings and materials used in various courses and programs offered by the ISB in strict adherence to the copyright policy.   The Center provides seamless access to knowledge resources in a hybrid format, including books, journals, databases, and other resources – “anywhere, anytime.”

The Job holder, as Professional Assistant, reports to the Associate/Manager at the LRC and extends required support to the overall LRC function - managing circulation-related activities – check-in/checkout, renewal, reminders, and other assigned works. Besides, they also assist users by providing relevant information, answering their queries, and guiding them in finding relevant sources - books and other reading materials based on their information needs.

The incumbent must conduct shelf management and in-housekeeping tasks and keep the circulation desk and LRC premises neat and tidy.  The candidate will extend necessary support and perform the tasks related to their allotted sectional activities as assigned by their reporting manager.

To ensure effective job execution, s/he needs to support and coordinate well with others in the team to ensure the timely delivery of the tasks assigned to the individual/team.

Graduates with a master’s degree in Library & Information Science/B.E./MCA and an excellent academic record.   

Desirable:  Prior working experience in the library field.

Flexible working hours – Required to work in a shift system on a rotation basis as the Centre operates 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 a.m. on all days and 24x7 based on the demand from the user groups during the mid and end-term examinations.
