Overview

Jan Keil is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Indian School of Business. His research focuses on disruptive and technology diven change in financial intermediation, including payment, banking, consumer finance, and money. One current project explores geopolitical motivations behind central bank digital currency and the effect on payment firms (revise and resubmit at the Journal of Finance). Another project analyzes the economics of BNPL for e-commerce merchants (Revise and Resubmit at the Journal of Financial Economics). 

Prof. Keil has published in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and served as a referee for the Review of Financial Studies. He has worked with Manju Puri, Tobias Berg, Thorsten Beck, and Steven Ongena. 

He was won grants from the German National Science Foundation (DFG) and from the University of Zurich. He was previously affiliated with Humboldt University at Berlin and the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. Prof. Keil holds a Ph.D. in economics from the New School for Social Research, NY and an MA equivalent diploma in political science from Goethe University, Frankfurt.
