Programme Format

The AMPBA is a part-time programme delivered in a blended learning format with minimum disruptions to your work responsibilities. The programme starts with a Bootcamp module with asynchronous content on Introduction to Python, R-programming, SQL and Linear Algebra, enabling participants from varying backgrounds to gain the pre-requisite knowledge before the Foundation Term.

Foundation-Term modules are delivered live through a technology-aided platform on weekends. The modules are based on Statistics, Probability, Data Collection & Pre-Processing, and Data Visualization. The modules ensure an enhanced learning experience during the main coursework.

The main coursework comprises 5 terms of each 6-8 weeks duration. Participants spend five days at the ISB campus for residential classroom learning once at the beginning of every term. Apart from on-campus residencies, participants will attend online sessions through a technology-aided platform on weekends and work on assignments, mini-projects, etc., through ISB’s Learning Management System. The three-month-long industry-sponsored Capstone Project at the culmination of the course offers participants an unparalleled opportunity to apply their learning to solve real-world business problems.

Curriculum

Some of the best minds in management education have been involved in creating a curriculum that is global in scope. ISB constantly strives to ensure that the curriculum is contemporary and relevant to current industry needs.

  • The curriculum at the Indian School of business is based on cutting-edge research and global best practices.

  • It is reviewed and upgraded every year in consultation with our associate schools for its theoretical intensity and practical relevance.

All participants get an opportunity to have a unique holistic learning experience.

Faculty

The programme is taught by globally renowned faculty from ISB, other premier schools, and subject-matter experts from the industry. They come with extensive practical experience and research in business analytics. They bring in unique insights, in addition to their functional expertise.

Teaching Methodology

The programme adopts adult learning pedagogies, with emphasis on action and application, rather than just theory and concepts. The pedagogy involves integrating faculty lectures with case study discussions, simulations, group activities, and other interactive sessions. Experienced industry practitioners visit ISB to interact with participants to share practical perspectives and insights into real business problems.

Classroom Learning

Participants attend classes at the ISB campus over six residencies of five days each, scheduled every alternate month. During a residency, participants attend day-long classes, and spend their evenings on co-curricular learning engagements. Participants are required to stay on campus during these residencies.

Online Learning

An online interactive technology platform complements classroom-based learning that occurs during residencies. This platform will be used predominantly for tutorials, mentoring, delivering Foundation-Term modules and at times for course content.

Self-Study and Peer Learning

Participants are expected to make maximum use of the learning resources offered, for a seamless learning experience. The resources may include textbooks, business cases, videos, etc. Apart from classroom attendance, participants are expected to dedicate 10-12 hours every week towards assignments, project work, and session pre-readings.

Applied Learning

Foundational Project

The Foundational Project runs through the programme, and cuts across its various modules. This helps participants build capabilities to solve different business problems, by integrating classroom learning from various courses.

Capstone Project

The Capstone Project is an important component of the programme. It offers participants an opportunity to apply their overall course learning to solve real-world business problems. Each participant group is mentored by a faculty member and an industry mentor, to integrate theoretical and practical aspects. Participants have an option to work on a live project from their organisation. Alternatively, the Programme Office allows them to bid for projects that it brings from other organisations.

Past participants have worked on Capstone Projects in various domains from reputed organisations such as ABP News, Accenture, Ashok Leyland, Bharti Airtel, Capgemini, Cognizant, Cyient, Deloitte, DXC Technology, Expedia, Flextronics, Ford Motors, Franklin Templeton, Gartner, GE Digital, HP Global Analytics, IL&FS, iNautix (BNY Mellon), Infosys, KPMG, L&T Infotech, Microsoft, MuSigma, INTT Data, Polaris (now Virtusa), Reliance Games, Snapdeal, Star TV, S&P Global, Variance.ai, Vodafone, Walmart, and many more.

Pedagogy

Pre-Course Reading Material

Pre-course reading materials which are in the form of textbooks, cases, articles etc., will be made available to all participants in advance. Participants are expected to spend 8 to 10 hours per week studying the material before they commence classes each term. Online assessments and pre-course projects are also incorporated in the programme to ensure academic rigour.

Industry Speakers / Visits

An integral part of the AMPBA is interactions with industry speakers and regular visits to relevant organisations throughout the course. These sessions will be part of almost every module and will be designed to enhance the understanding of the concepts of the module from a practitioner’s perspective, making it easier to apply the learning immediately.

Simulation

Simulations help maximise on classroom learning as the decisions that the participants have to make in these simulations replicate the kind of decisions they would encounter in their respective organisations. They let participants apply the management theories learnt in class to a simulated business environment and evaluate the results of their decisions.

Action Learning

Action learning is an essential pedagogical tool that is designed to give participants a chance to practice their management theories in real life scenarios.

There will be an action learning project, which will be performed individually or under a mentor/ guide from ISB. This will be accomplished by the participant personally and will either be selected by the participant on his own or will be given to the participant from the individual’s organisation
