Overview

The Finance Club at ISB boasts of 250+ members with 180+ at Hyderabad and another 70+ at Mohali, coming from diverse finance and non-finance backgrounds. The club focuses on driving initiatives in the finance domain and intends to further the interests of students and alumni interested in finance.

The team consists of 9 talented and experienced people, who carry an average work experience of 5 years, and work on creating awareness on different domains and career paths within Finance. The club not only educates the students but also reaches out to industry veterans and has periodic speaker sessions to expose students to the various practical aspects of finance. Additionally, the club organizes various case competitions and events that further drive the interest of the cohort towards finance and its real-world implications.

The Finance Club has its flagship event, Artha. This event is a platform through which the club brings together students, academia and industry professionals.

Through these initiatives, the Finance Club endeavors to create a connect between students and the outside world, thereby providing students with a holistic experience in finance and ensuring that they are well prepared to handle the nuances of the financial services industry in practical life.

Prashanth Kamath

Prashanth Kamath is an MBA student and the President of the Finance Club here at ISB Hyderabad for the Co’25. Passionate about finance from a young age, he took inspiration from his father, a bond market veteran.

With a deep interest in private credit and equities, Prashanth has developed a robust network of high-level industry connections. He is also a CFA charter holder and brings substantial expertise to his role here at ISB though his experience as an institutional equity research analyst at JM Financial- one of India’s oldest and largest investment banks, where he covered the chemicals sector.

Prashanth has been practicing Vedanta for the past 4 years and in his free time he likes to read and watch Formula One.

Meghna is a Chartered Accountant who previously worked in the Investment Banking team at Deloitte. There, she specialised in fundraising, M&A, and restructuring deals spanning diverse industries, including consumer, defense, and e-commerce. During her stint, she managed and negotiated significant deals, advising Indian growth-stage startups, all while building a robust network with investors in the PE VC landscape. Driven by her passion for making an impact, Meghna has been teaching finance to students and young professionals for the past five years. Beyond her professional pursuits, Meghna has a serious case of wanderlust, and a love for coastal cuisine, surfing and freestyle dancing.

Shalin Bhansali

Shalin Bhansali

Shalin has experience of 2 years across corporate banking, investment banking, start-up strategy, operations and fundraising. He started his career with an investment banking stint at KNAV India, a boutique investment bank where he worked on fundraising engagements of start-ups in the media & entertainment, fintech, and healthtech space. He then moved to J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., in the Payments Advisory team of the Corporate and Investment Bank, as a junior analyst in the research division. His final stint before ISB was in the Founder’s Office at Healthysure, an early-stage insurtech start-up where he front-ended initiatives across fundraising, investor relations, strategy, and operations.

In terms of education, Shalin has cleared 2 levels of the CFA Program and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics (Autonomous), Mumbai. He also has a passion for teaching and runs an academy in Mumbai catering to students of the Cambridge IGCSE Board from Grades 8 to 10.
