Theatre Club
Overview
“The Theatre Club at ISB is crucial to help students express themselves on stage and in short films. It is a way for students to step out of their comfort zone and augment their campus life with new experiences, on stage and in front of the camera. The theatre club has carried out stage productions not just for marquee events but also a standalone play nights. With the move to digital, the theatre club and its activities evolved to include short films, movie streaming nights and solo acts which have raised the bar of creativity and participation from the cohort”.

Shruti Venkat
President
Shruti Venkat's first tryst with Theatre happened during her Bachelor's in Business Administration at Christ University, Bengaluru, where she was a part of Zealous Productions, the undergraduate theatre team. With Zealous, she explored diverse theatrical avenues, performing street plays (Nukkad Naatak), trying her hand at proscenium theatre and mime, while honing her skills in stage and theatre production management.
Her vision as President of the Theatre Club is to cultivate a culture of theatre within the institution. She envisions theatre as a multifaceted tool – one that empowers students to develop essential soft skills like creative thinking, confidence, and stage presence through immersive workshops and activities. Simultaneously, she aims to celebrate theatre as an art form, staging performances that narrate a range of stories – from relatable narratives to thought-provoking tales.
Shruti joined ISB after a 4-year stint at Goldman Sachs, where she worked within the Payment Risk and Governance domain.

Vasu
Vice President
Vasu is extremely passionate about scriptwriting and drama. Having been around theatre people all his life but never having the chance to actually be involved in a theatre group left Vasu with the what ifs of performing on stage. Driven by the desire to challenge himself and conquer the stage with electric plays, Vasu stepped into this role with a commitment to personal growth and a vision for the club.
His goal is to foster an inclusive environment where every member of the batch feels encouraged to participate. He aims to help create connections between students, enhance their executive presence, and help bring their stories to life on the stage.
Before ISB, Vasu worked for the Strategy team of OakNorth, a UK based fintech for just over 5 years. He loves the mountains, gaming, magic and other recreational activities.

Yashaswi Sunkara
President
Yashaswi Sunkara, a graduate of Christ University with a background in Psychology, Sociology, and Economics, has always been drawn to stories—whether reading them, writing them, or bringing them to life on stage. Theatre has been her creative outlet since school, where she started directing, writing, and acting in plays.
Over the years, she has worked on a variety of productions, from classic dramas to original scripts, always focused on crafting engaging narratives and compelling characters. She enjoys every part of the process—developing a script, shaping performances, and creating moments that stay with the audience.
A keen reader, she is particularly drawn to Arthur Miller, Agatha Christie, and Mahesh Dattani, appreciating their sharp storytelling and layered characters. When not immersed in theatre, she’s usually reading, discussing stories, or planning her next production.
