ENACTS – Enabling Nutrition-Agriculture Convergence through Technical Support
Overview
Department: Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP)
Location: Hyderabad, New Delhi, Patna, Bhubaneswar
Job Summary
The needle on nutrition in India has proven hard to move. Three factors have risen to the top for consideration. One, a focus on production and consumption of cereals is insufficient to meet the challenge; the focus must move to nutrient-dense foods (NDFs), such as fruits, vegetables, and animal-source foods. Two, government efforts will always be incomplete in a context where most nutrient-dense food is purchased from markets. Three, digital technology, which has transformed lives across the country, must be brought to bear on the problem.
ISB proposes to establish a Technical Assistance Facility (ENACTS) to support agriculture-nutrition policy convergence (i.e., where stakeholders from agriculture, nutrition, and the spectrum of sectors that constitute the food system collaborate to improve nutrition outcomes amongst low income populations in underserved geographies by improving accessibility, availability, and affordability of NDFs in India, with a focus on women’s empowerment, taking into account climate impacts and action, building on market-based approaches, and deploying advanced and emerging technologies.
Vision
Increase the accessibility, affordability, and availability of Nutrient-Dense Foods to low-income populations in underserved geographies through policy, markets, and technology.
Outcome 1 – Build capacity to identify convergence opportunities
Outcome 2 – Identify challenges in policy convergence and the related implementation outcomes
Outcome 3 – Demonstrate convergence potential through interventions
We invite applications for multiple roles across locations to implement ENACTS. We expect to install teams in Hyderabad, New Delhi, Patna, and Bhubaneshwar. These teams will combine expertise and experience in (1) policy related to different components of the food system, (2) producing research-backed knowledge, and (3) managing communications to multiple audiences across different levels. In addition to these, we will also seek to include specialized skills in graphic design, social media management, web design, and data science.
Please use this form to provide all components of your application. Include your latest CV as well as a detailed cover letter outlining the fit between your experience and ENACTS. Incomplete applications or those sent through any other medium will not be considered.
Given the large number of expected applications, we will only respond to the shortlisted candidates. ISB encourages applications from women and minority candidates.
