Why I Chose ISB
Not every success story moves in a straight line. Some are shaped in pauses, tested in uncertainty, and defined by the choices you make when the path ahead is not clear.
Looking back, my journey to ISB’s PGP PRO was not a single decision. It was the result of years of experience, moments of recalibration, and a growing clarity about the kind of leader I wanted to become.
Building Foundations Through Work and Leadership
My professional journey began in the IT consulting and services industry, where I spent over a decade working across large, complex, globally distributed teams. Early on, I learned a lesson that continues to shape my worldview: meaningful impact is rarely the result of individual brilliance. It comes from collaboration, integrity, and shared purpose.
One formative experience was developing a proof of concept for regulatory reporting in credit banking. What began as an internal innovation exercise evolved into a major client engagement with an Australian bank. Seeing how our work could reduce risk, strengthen compliance, and save institutions millions reinforced my belief that technology, when guided by intent and ethics, can create meaningful impact at scale.
As my roles evolved, I moved from individual contribution to leading and mentoring teams. In my current role, I advise on the design and governance of enterprise data models in the healthcare sector. This work has shown me that leadership in data-driven organisations goes beyond technical expertise. It requires judgment, communication, and accountability, especially when decisions directly influence patient care and system efficiency.
Equally important has been the opportunity to mentor teams, manage stakeholders, and step into leadership gaps when required. These experiences strengthened my ability to lead with empathy and clarity, while also revealing areas for growth, particularly around time management and asking for support.
The Pause That Changed Perspective
One of the most defining decisions of my journey was stepping away from a decade-long career to raise my children.
It was a deeply personal choice, shaped by family priorities. While the sabbatical came with its challenges, it also strengthened my resilience, adaptability, and sense of purpose. The COVID-19 pandemic further deepened this perspective. Being present for my family during a global crisis reshaped how I think about responsibility, privilege, and leadership.
This phase taught me that leadership is not limited to professional roles. It is about showing up with consistency and compassion when it matters most.
Returning with Clarity and Conviction
Re-entering the workforce after a break was not easy, but it reaffirmed my confidence and commitment. I stepped into a technical leadership role that required both strong execution and people management, while also consciously investing in my own development.
An earlier setback in securing admission to ISB’s PGP PRO became a turning point rather than a barrier. It pushed me toward deeper introspection and helped me refine my goals with greater clarity. I emerged with a stronger sense of purpose and a clearer vision of the leader I wanted to become: human-centric, ethical, and impact-driven.
Why ISB, Why Now
My aspiration to study at ISB goes back to my teenage years, when I first came across its mission of developing principled global leaders.
At this stage in my career, as I began influencing outcomes beyond technology, I recognised the need for structured management education to complement my experience with strategic depth. The PGP PRO stood out for its practitioner-led learning, diverse cohort, and strong emphasis on real-world application.
It offered exactly what I was looking for: a platform to sharpen leadership judgment, broaden business perspective, and learn alongside peers navigating similar complexity and scale.
Gaining admission to the program feels both validating and grounding. It reflects a journey shaped by perseverance, continuous learning, and integrity. At the same time, it brings a responsibility to contribute meaningfully, learn actively, and carry forward the values the institution stands for.
Looking back, the path to ISB was not linear. It was shaped by ambition and pauses, progress and setbacks, confidence and recalibration. And perhaps that is what made it meaningful.
What this journey has taught me is simple: growth is not about moving fast, but about moving forward with intention. As I begin this chapter at ISB, I do so with gratitude, humility, and a clear commitment to becoming a leader who creates impact, one thoughtful decision at a time.
