The Indian School of Business (ISB) has joined the World Health Organization's International Pathogen Surveillance Network (IPSN) to enhance pathogen genomics and public health decision-making globally. Led by Professors Sarang Deo and Sripad Devalkar, ISB's initiatives focus on cost-effective disease surveillance programmes and have developed an integrated model for genome sequencing-based surveillance with the Centre for Global Development.

Despite the benefits, underinvestment in such programmes, particularly in low-and middle-income countries, persists due to challenges in quantifying benefits. Professor Deo emphasized the need for whole genome sequencing (WGS)-based surveillance and developing evidence to aid policymakers. As a member of IPSN, ISB aims to translate its research into global policy actions, contributing to this critical field.
