ISB announces public policy book series with the first one written by retired IAS officer Amarjeet Sinha.
ISB’s- Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP) as part of its multi-pronged approach has launched a public policy book series called- ‘Innovations, Practice, and the Future of Public Policy in India’. The series aims to bring together contributions and diverse perspectives of academics and practitioners in the country's public policy field and record innovative ideas and best practices to facilitate knowledge transfer, replication, and scaling.
As part of this initiative, the first book of the series titled - ‘The Last Mile – Turning Public Policy Upside Down’ by Amarjeet Sinha, IAS (Retd.) was launched yesterday at a special programme in New Delhi.
Amarjeet Sinha, while sharing his insights said that this book provided an opportunity to share his experiences of working on various Government of India programmes like the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, National Rural Health Mission, MGNREGA, PMAY, PMGSY, National Rural Livelihoods Mission, Grameen Kaushalya Yojana to name a few.
Professor Ashwini Chhatre, Executive Director of Bharti Institute of Public Policy said that he found the book to be most suitable for both – practitioners of public policy and academia. “This book allowed me to clarify that how do you weave together a system where the role of the State is in synergy with the role of the community,” he added.
Eminent speakers spoke about the importance of creating the last mile connection under the vast expanse of human development with a focus on specific themes. The event saw attendance from a plethora of public policymakers, practitioners and policy enthusiasts – both from the government and corporate space, members of the academia, and non-governmental organisations.
Professor Ashwini Chhatre; Professor Anjal Prakash, Clinical Associate Professor (Research); and Dr Aarushi Jain, Policy Director of Bharti Institute of Public Policy are the series editors of the Public Policy Book Series which has been published in collaboration with Routledge.
