Suhas Hegde: Versatile Veteran

Serving aboard India's aircraft carrier, Viraat, and actively participating in over 13 international maritime exercises, Suhas Hedge, who reached the rank of Commander in the Indian Navy, is now transitioning to a role in the corporate world.

From his deployments in five Southeast Asian nations and sailing onboard a US Aircraft Carrier and a Singaporean multi-role stealth frigate during multinational maritime exercises, Suhas brings invaluable experiences to the PGP class of 2024.

Over the course of his 14+ year career, Suhas has gained extensive and diverse experience across all aspects of the ship and submarine lifecycle. From design and construction to drydocking, repair, operations, and training, he has demonstrated expertise in various verticals. His exceptional contributions have been recognised with commendations from the Flag Officer commanding-in-Chief on three occasions.

A naval architect by profession, Suhas embarked on a distinguished career in the Corps of Naval Constructors of the Indian Navy in January 2003. With an educational background in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding and a Master's in Naval Construction from IIT Delhi, Suhas possesses a solid foundation in his field. He also holds MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies.

He also attended the esteemed Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, a tri-service institution that welcomes officers from the Indian Navy, Army, Air Force. 

Beyond his professional pursuits, Suhas is an avid traveler who explores the world through various means, including backpacking, motorcycling (as a devoted Royal Enfield enthusiast), trekking, and meandering through picturesque countryside. With a penchant for adventure, he has completed courses in Basic and Advanced Mountaineering and Paragliding, enabling him to partake in thrilling activities such as trekking, skiing, and holidays in the Himalayas. Additionally, Suhas has actively participated in endurance events like marathons, triathlons (including the Ironman 70.3 in Goa 2019), and open water swimming.
