In a 2-day Visit, Diplomats Learn About ISB History, Research Thrust

The Indian School of Business (ISB) hosted the third iteration of the Diplomats' Familiarisation Programme on the Mohali campus for members of the foreign diplomatic community based in India.

The participating diplomats were from Kyrgyzstan, the Maldives, Russia, Togo, Indonesia, and Ghana. 

The objective of the programme is to inform the diplomats about ISB, and its ongoing initiatives aimed at realising its vision of creating leaders for the future through its programmes, management research, international partnerships, and outreach.

The diplomats included first secretaries, counsellors, and attachés at their respective embassies or high commissions responsible for education, culture, and commerce functions.

The two-day programme started on November 2 with a campus tour and a brief introduction to ISB’s history through the History Wall on the campus.

The diplomats further interacted with DNV Kumara Guru, Senior Director, Advancement, Alumni Engagement and External Relations.

Sutapa Podder Roy, Director, Faculty and Research, gave a presentation on the ISB’s teaching staff and shared insights about ISB’s research rankings, the portfolio model of resident and visiting faculty, and the areas of expertise of the faculty.

The first of the two days ended with an engaging panel discussion by ISB Alumni on the topic: ‘What does it Take to Succeed in India?’

Somveer Anand and Sukhmeet Singh from the PGP class of 2007, Gagandeep Singh from PGPMAX 2022, Apurv Bansal from PGPpro 2018, and Sanjit Singh Paul from PGP 2011, participated.

The second day started with a visit to the Atal Incubation Centre where they were briefed about I-Venture at ISB and its ongoing activities in the startup ecosystem in India and the world.

Among the diplomats who attended the programme were Hanafi Athena, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia; Jean Asantewaah Oduro, First Secretary, Consular and Welfare, Ghana High Commission; Mikhail Antsiferov, Attaché (Culture), Embassy of the Russian Federation; Maza Wiyaou Mendelei, Attaché, Embassy of the Republic of Togo; Asel Akmatkalyi Kyzy, First Secretary, Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in India; and Mohamed Najeel, First Secretary (Econ & Cultural), High Commission of the Republic of Maldives.
