Professor Sougata Ray, Executive Director, Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise, Indian School of Business, gets quoted in a story titled “The Peacemaker,” published in Outlook Business. The article explores the critical role of emotional intelligence in family businesses, highlighting how individuals can mediate conflicts and support business longevity.

Family businesses often struggle with emotional and interpersonal conflicts, which, if not properly addressed, can jeopardise their longevity despite having formal governance structures in place. “It is only possible to discuss these when someone in the family has the emotional intelligence to navigate the issues at hand and is invested in creating strong bonds among the members. It is also imperative that this person is trusted by those involved and has high level of integrity and no vested interests,” says Professor Ray.
