Applicants to Advanced Management Programme in Public Policy are both from the Public Sector and Private Sector. We at the school generate ideas and bring them into the classroom, where we train the next generation of leaders for public service. We also test our ideas in practice. Our faculty is engaged in the affairs of the world, shaping public policy, advising governments, and running major non-profit organisations.
Consistent with ISB’s portfolio model, the faculty for this programme are drawn from the pool of highly accomplished ISB resident faculty, faculty from the Fletcher School and other leading schools, eminent policy makers and practitioners. It’s an eclectic mix of distinguished professionals in their respective fields who bring in their experience and perspective to the classroom and make it a dynamic, rooted in real-time learning experience.
ISB has enduring relationships with some of India’s most renowned leaders in public policy, governance and business—many of whom are invited to speak during AMP-PP residencies to share their experiences in particular sectors. These inspiring sessions give students first hand insights into policy making and into the critical challenges faced by the government and corporates. It ensures an enriching learning experience for the students and a chance for them to interact closely with the distinguished academics, politicians, bureaucrats and business experts, complementing their rigorous course curriculum. This exercise also helps build and strengthen the relationship between ISB and the world's leading professionals.
Is MPPP a distance education or online programme?
No. The MPPP is a hybrid programme for working professionals who need not take a break from work to do a premier programme. All courses are taught face-to-face. Supplementary audio-visual learning, interaction with the global faculty and academic team, projects, assignments and assessments, study trek etc. are the other key activities that are achieved through off-campus and technology-assisted learning.
Where are the classes for the programme held?
All classes for the programme are held in both ISB campuses as per the calendar: North Campus: Mohali and South Campus: Hyderabad.
WilI get an MBA?
Indian regulations do not allow independent institutions to grant a master’s degree.
The rigorous programme will lead to a Certification upon successful completion.
How many days will I need to take off from work?
The total number of days at ISB campus for the duration of the programme will be approximately 36 days, which would include 16 days of weekend. Effectively it would be 20 working days over a year.
How much time will I have to spend studying at home outside the residencies?
We anticipate participants having to spend 8-10 hours per week on pre readings, assignments and cases.
How do I prepare and gear up for the programme?
Once you are admitted, we will have pre term online courses in specific areas to help you gear up for the programme.
When will I get course materials and books?
The course materials as prepared by faculty in terms of pre-reads, links to important websites and related literature and list of books will be made available to you in advance so you have ample time to prepare and complete the pre course assignments.
The materials will be uploaded on the Learning Management System (LMS) portal, or shipped to you, or handed to you in person when you are on campus.
What if I need help with understanding course concepts during the period outside the residencies?
You can post your queries on the discussion board in the LMS and someone from the School will resolve your query. If needed, we can have someone call you and clarify the doubts.
Of course, your course mates can also respond to your query making the learning collaborative.
Can I defer admissions?
We do not encourage deferrals. In exceptional circumstances deferral may be granted upon submission of documentary proof supporting your reasons for deferral. A non-refundable deferral fee needs to be paid, in addition to the admission fee, to secure your place for the next class. The deferral fee is adjusted in your programme fee when you join the programme. Please note that the programme fee applicable to the year of joining the programme will apply.
Deferral is granted for a maximum of one year beyond which you will need to reapply.
What if my deferral plea is not accepted?
In such a scenario you will have to reapply for the next academic year.
Once I have submitted the application, when will I hear from you?
We will strive to process your application as soon as we receive the same and try and revert to you in around 10 to 15 days.
Is an interview required?
Yes. Interviews give us an opportunity to hear about your experiences first hand and make a qualified judgment. Interviews will be held telephonically/Over VC/ in person. We would intimate the mode once you are shortlisted. Kindly refer to the “Important dates” section for the interview dates for Round 1 and Round 2 of the selection process.
Do I have to be financially sponsored by my company to be eligible for this programme?
No, you do not have to be financially sponsored by your firm to be eligible for the programme. However, all participants need to provide a letter of support from your firm in the prescribed format available from the application portal.
What constitutes the content of the letter of support from one’s employer?
The letter of support basically states that your employer is aware of the fact that you are attending this programme. It also states whether you are also being sponsored financially and to what extent and whether the leave granted to you to attend the programme is paid, unpaid or a mix of both.
Why do you need the letter of support from your employer?
This is required since the programme is meant for working professionals and needs them to be away from work for a number of days which usually exceeds the annual leaves granted in most organisations.
Does the programme provide campus placement services?
No, the programme does not provide a campus placement service.
Why is campus placement not provided?
Campus placement is not provided for three reasons:
-> MPPP is a part time executive program which does not require break from work.
-> Since participants will have their employers’ support, at least by way of time off from work to attend the programme and therefore respecting the employer’s support, ISB does not feel it is appropriate to offer placement services.
-> Participants come with good amount of work experience and would have targeted roles/ positions to move into on the strength of their learning.
