IIDS Partners with Government e-Marketplace (GeM) to Advance Research in Public Procurement

The Indian School of Business (ISB), through its Institute of Data Science (IIDS), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government e-Marketplace (GeM), the national public procurement platform, to promote data-driven research and innovation in the public procurement ecosystem.

The MoU was formalised in New Delhi on 12th February 2025 by Professor Manish Gangwar, Executive Director, IIDS-ISB, and Shri Ajit B. Chavan, Additional CEO & Chief Seller Officer, GeM, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

Through this partnership, IIDS will undertake structured, data-driven analysis of GeM’s evolution and assess its transformative role in streamlining procurement processes across government bodies. The collaboration aims to:

  • Facilitate evidence-based discussions on policy reforms and improvements to the GeM portal,
  • Generate impactful knowledge resources, including white papers, case studies, and policy briefs,
  • Benchmark GeM’s performance against global best practices to promote greater efficiency, transparency, and inclusiveness in public procurement.

The insights generated through this collaboration will not only strengthen academic and policy discourse but also support the continuous improvement of GeM, contributing to a more robust and accountable procurement ecosystem in India.
