Sandeep Rath is an Assistant Professor of Operations Management at the Indian School of Business. Previously, he was on the faculty at the Kenan-Flagler Business School, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
His research focuses on close collaboration with hospitals, providers, and technology firms to identify critical resource allocation challenges in healthcare systems. He employs a range of predictive and prescriptive methods, including data-driven optimization, large-scale linear and integer programming, robust optimization, machine learning, dynamic programming, and causal inference. His model-based approach delivers actionable solutions and practical insights for healthcare administrators.
He has collaborated with organizations such as Veterans Health Los Angeles, UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center, UNC Health, Opflow, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He also consults for healthcare technology firms working to enhance digital analytics tools for providers in India and the U.S.
His research has been a finalist for the INFORMS Applied Analytics Award and received the Bullard Faculty Research Impact Award from UNC Kenan-Flagler.
He has taught courses in Operations Management, Prescriptive Analytics, Service Operations, and Healthcare Operations at both the Indian School of Business and UNC Kenan-Flagler.
