Abstract
The paper illustrates the design considerations for making participatory processes effective through two short case illustrations. The four factors that need to be considered are: (a) Problem solving is structured appropriately for right analysis and resolution; (b) Members bring in multiple perspectives to develop rich understanding of the issues involved; (c) Interaction, communication and confrontation are strengthened; (d) People feel freed up rather than defensive or anxious.
