Abstract
Within the domain of family business studies, the significance of resilience researchhas risen markedly, as evidenced by an upsurge in scholarly endeavors focused onhow family enterprises navigate complex crises and their sources of resilience. Thisstudy, utilizing a bibliometric analysis, examines research spanning over four decadesfrom the Scopus database. Our findings reveal an evolving research trajectory,transitioning from foundational concerns such as adaptation and survival tocontemporary themes of innovation and pandemic response. The analysis alsohighlights a geographical research asymmetry, with a preponderance of output fromthe USA and Europe, underscoring the need for fostering cross-regional collaborationsin line with Sustainable Development Goal 17. Furthermore, this review identifiespromising research directions that emphasize a holistic approach, integrating theinterplay between family business resilience and societal and macro contexts. Itunderscores the necessity for adoption of innovative methodologies and measures offamily business resilience and calls for interdisciplinary engagement in this field.Overall, this study serves as a critical guide for scholars, offering a comprehensiveoverview of the current state of knowledge and charting a course towards unexploredterritories in family business resilience, thereby laying the foundation for deeperunderstanding and practical implications in this vital research domain.
