Abstract
Professionalisation of family business is a multi-dimensional transformative process of building structures, systems, policies, and capabilities to systematize operations and governance. It transforms a family business from a founder-dependent organisation to a policy-based, professionally managed organisation. This entry presents different perspectives from which scholars have viewed professionalisation in family business research studies. The entry also discusses the benefits and challenges of professionalisation and concludes with implications for theory and practice.
