and its domination of our daily life, employee well-being at work
has become an important concern of both employees and senior
management. Since the current view of workplace well-being is
very limited in scope, a holistic view of well-being, where the whole
human being behind the employee badge is proposed in this article. The “Beingful Work” model is based on the emerging philosophy of beingfulness which seeks to align our ways of living to our whole being in an effort to be true to it.
The theory of beingful work extends self-concordance theory in organisational psychology in important new ways related to our sense of self and goal alignment. We also identify 14 aspects of our whole being included within 8 senses of self or identity that comprise our self-concept. We also show how beingful work could be measured using the value of work and reality of work profiles, which can be combined together on the beingfulness of work (BOW) chart.
