Anindo Sarkar

Anindo Sarkar is an assistant professor in the Finance area at ISB. His primary areas of research are monetary theory, growth theory and financial frictions. His current research includes understanding endogenous monetary-fiscal interactions, role of financial frictions in monetary policy as well as the role of these frictions in issues surrounding long run growth

Roles and Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Assistance to the faculty – Assisting in their ongoing research work which includes literature review, data collection, database management, empirical analysis and structural modelling.

1. Data collection – Collection of secondary data from websites or databases and compilation into usable formats for analysis.
2. Data cleaning – Clean and manage economic datasets using STATA, R or Python.
3. Database management – Linking different datasets, ensuring data quality, and processing raw data into processed datasets for modelling and estimation.
4. Data analysis – Econometric analysis for exploratory data analysis with emphasis on time-series analysis like VARs and Local Projections.
5. Synthesis - Literature search and review, summary, presentation, and analytical writing.

• Time commitment: This role will be for a minimum of one year.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications

• Undergraduate in economics or a quantitative social science from a reputed institution in India or abroad is mandatory.
• Candidates with a master’s in economics or finance from a reputed institution in India or abroad will be given preference.

Skills and requirements:

• Basic exposure to macroeconomics and finance (through coursework or research experience) is a must.
• Experience and exposure to basic econometrics (panel regression models, DiD) is a must.
• Experience working with empirical macroeconomic analysis like VARs and Local Projections is desirable.
• Some experience with numerical analysis – like finite differences, root finding will be highly valued.
• Familiarity with statistical and computational programming languages is strongly preferred – STATA, R, Matlab, Python.
• Strong communication skills, with attention to detail.
