To ensure AI solutions are clinically relevant, ethically appropriate, and aligned with healthcare standards and patient safety in real-world applications.

Job Purpose

The Clinical / Public Health Expert position offers an excellent opportunity to apply clinical and programmatic expertise to evaluate and guide the deployment of AI-based healthcare interventions.

The Expert will be responsible for

(i) Reviewing AI solutions for clinical validity, feasibility, and ethical compliance

(ii) Assessing their alignment with existing clinical guidelines and workflows

(iii) Evaluating patient safety and informed consent processes

(iv) Contributing to the design and interpretation of clinical outcome evaluations

(v) Mapping workflows at pilot sites to identify appropriate integration points for AI solutions

(vi) Developing standard operating procedures for safe deployment

(vii) Training healthcare workers on the use of AI tools

(viii) Monitoring patient safety and real-world performance during pilots

The role combines clinical judgment with hands-on implementation and evaluation experience, offering a chance to influence how digital and AI tools are safely adopted in healthcare delivery.

Job Specifications

Knowledge / Education:

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) OR Master’s in Public Health with experience in clinical settings

Specific Skills:

• Strong organizational and communication skills to collaborate across technical, clinical, and research teams
• Excellent project management and organizational skills
• Meticulous attention to detail. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
• Capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Willingness to travel to study sites to support pilot deployments

Mandatory Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in clinical care or healthcare delivery
• Experience with the deployment and evaluation of digital health interventions
• Strong understanding of clinical workflows, clinical guidelines, and decision-making support processes across disease domains
• Familiarity with clinical settings including workforce cadres and organizational structures/hierarchies
• Knowledge of patient safety, ethical standards, and regulatory guidelines governing healthcare interventions

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct desk reviews of AI solutions for clinical relevance, feasibility, and appropriate application to real-world use cases.
• Assess alignment of AI models with clinical guidelines, decision workflows, and ethical standards.
• Evaluate patient safety, potential risks introduced, and informed consent requirements.
• Contribute to evaluation design and interpretation of clinical outcomes (e.g., diagnostic accuracy, treatment initiation).
• Work with relevant stakeholders at pilot sites to map clinical workflows and identify integration points for AI solutions (includes on-site travel).
• Conduct independent testing of AI use- cases to assess usability, accuracy, and interpretability.
• Develop SoPs for AI- solution deployment in pilot sites; evaluate organizational readiness.
• Monitor patient safety during pilots, including adverse events and conditions requiring human-inthe-loop oversight.
• Support training of site healthcare workers on safe, effective use of AI outputs.
• Collaborate with ML experts, operations specialists, and researchers to evaluate clinical validity and real-world applicability of AI-solutions.
