The Bharti Institute of Public Policy at the Indian School of Business (ISB) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Fellow specialized in Public Finance to join the team. The incumbent will support and lead research projects focusing on fiscal policies, budgetary management, and public expenditure efficiency. This role will involve end-to-end project execution, including research design, primary and secondary data collection, analysis, and production of high-quality knowledge outputs to inform evidence-based policymaking.

Job Purpose & Outline

Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP) stands tall as one of India’s eminent public policy think tanks engaging with eminent policy makers and providing them with critical, data-driven evidence, research, and analysis on relevant and critical concerns. As ISB BIPP continues to broaden its public policy research, we seek a Senior Research Fellow to join our team to support the institute’s research initiatives.

The successful candidate will carry out the below activities:

• Supporting and managing research projects in public finance from conception to completion.
• Conducting secondary research using budget documents, finance reports, finance accounts, and audit reports.
• Overseeing primary data collection, including consultations, surveys, interviews, and field visits.
• Analysing datasets using statistical tools such as STATA, R, or Python to produce actionable insights.
• Drafting research reports, policy briefs, and working papers for the department and other stakeholders.
• Coordinating with field teams, government departments, and partner organizations to ensure smooth project execution.
• The candidate may also be involved in other research initiatives undertaken by the department.

Job Specifications

Knowledge / Education:

• PhD in Economics with specialization in Public Finance (preferred).

Specific Skills:

• Proficiency in statistical tools such as STATA, R, or Python.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.

Desirable Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in public finance research, fiscal policy analysis, or government budgeting.
