Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for a creative, data-driven Social Media Specialist to manage and grow BIPP's digital presence across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). The ideal candidate will translate complex policy research and institutional achievements into compelling narratives that engage academics, policymakers, students, civil society, and the broader public. This role sits at the intersection of public policy communication, content strategy, and digital marketing.

Job Outline

Multimedia Assistance:

  • Content Creation & Management
  • Develop and execute a monthly content calendar aligned with BIPP's research agenda, events, and institutional milestones.
  • Create platform-native content including graphics, short videos, reels, infographics, carousels, and long-form posts for LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
  • Distil complex policy research, white papers, and reports into accessible, engaging social media formats.
  • Write crisp, audience-appropriate copy that reflects BIPP's voice.

Platform Management & Community Engagement

  • Manage daily operations across all four platforms, including publishing, scheduling, and real-time monitoring.
  • Respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely, professional manner; escalate sensitive queries as appropriate.
  • Identify and engage with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Leverage platform-specific features (LinkedIn newsletters, Instagram Stories, X threads, Facebook Groups) to maximise reach.

Strategy & Analytics

  • Define and track KPIs including follower growth, engagement rate, reach, impressions, and website referral traffic.
  • Produce monthly analytics reports with actionable insights and recommendations for the leadership team.
  • Stay current with platform algorithm changes, emerging trends, and best practices in public policy communication.
  • Conduct periodic competitor and benchmark analyses to identify opportunities for growth.

Campaigns & Events

  • Plan and execute social media campaigns for BIPP conferences, policy roundtables, events and publications.
  • Manage social media coverage of events and post-event recaps.
  • Coordinate with BIPP ‘s team for content inputs and necessary approvals.
  • Support paid social media advertising campaigns when required, managing budgets and optimising performance.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the research, education, and other teams to source accurate, timely content.
  • Coordinate with the ISB marketing and communications team to ensure consistency with institutional brand guidelines.
  • Brief and direct external designers, videographers, or agency partners as needed.

Job Specifications


Qualifications & Experience

(Essential)

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Public Policy, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on social media management experience, preferably within a research institution, think tank, university, NGO, or public sector organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging content across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English; ability to adapt tone and complexity for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with social media management tools
  • Hands-on proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, or Express), to independently produce social media creatives, infographics, and branded visuals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and active usage of AI tools relevant to content creation including but not limited to ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, or equivalent, to enhance content quality, speed up production workflows, and generate creative assets.

(Preferred)

  • Familiarity with Indian public policy landscape, governance issues, or development sector.
  • Experience managing social media for a reputed academic institution or think tank.
  • Familiarity with video editing tools will be a strong added advantage.
  • Understanding of SEO principles and their application to social content.
  • Experience with paid social advertising on LinkedIn and Meta platforms.
