His research focuses on identifying ways governments should best allocate resources to improve welfare outcomes like education, health, and social protection. He conducts field experiments and works on secondary data sources like NSS surveys.

About this Position:

There is one RA position available in Economics and Public Policy with Professor Sabareesh Ramachandran. The RA will assist with work on multiple projects in development economics including field work, data collection, and data analysis. The position will start in July 2025.

This is a pre-doctoral position and a good fit for those looking to do a PhD in economics or related fields in two years’ time. The position is for 1 year and will be renewed for another year depending on performance. Research Associates at ISB generally go on to pursue Ph.D. in internationally renowned business schools/universities. The RA will receive extensive mentoring and support in their PhD applications.

Roles & Responsibilities:

You will:

·       Assist in data analysis and producing publication-ready output for multiple projects of the PI

·       Work with secondary datasets like NSS and NFHS survey data

·       Assist in data collection, designing survey instruments, training field staff on survey instruments, and monitoring quality of data

·       Conduct literature reviews

·       Participate in writing reports and manuscripts

·       Scope new projects by meeting with different stake holders and conducting pilot surveys

·       Coordinate with multiple stakeholders including other PIs, government organizations, survey firms, etc.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Skills and Qualifications :

·       Strong academic background in any of Economics/Computer Science/Statistics/Mathematics/Engineering with demonstrated analytical and communication skills.

·       Good analytical, computing and communication skills. Working knowledge of at least one statistical software and programming languages like R, Stata, or Python is essential. Candidate should be willing to learn other languages as needed.

·       Strong communication, and presentation skills.

·       Excellent management and organizational skills

·       Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a team player.

·       Excellent data management, cleaning, and analysis skills. 

·       Strong demonstrated interest in the development sector.
