ISB – POMS Workshop 2026

The ISB–POMS Workshop is an annual, high-level research event jointly hosted by the Indian School of Business (ISB) and the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). It serves as a premier platform in India for showcasing cutting-edge academic research in Operations and Supply Chain Management, with a focus on emerging markets.

About the Event

Topics: The workshop will focus on diverse yet related topics such as sustainability, healthcare operations, risk management, agriculture and food supply chains, retail operations, pharmaceutical supply chain, work that is motivated by problems in emerging economies, uses datasets from these settings and/or has policy implications for these contexts.

Format: The workshop will comprise a single track of approximately ten high-quality presentations over 1.5 working days. The presentations will primarily consist of academic talks of around 30 minutes followed by (MSOM SIG-style) discussants. There will also be 1-2 talks from industry experts. 

Keynote Speaker

The keynote talk, titled the MR Rao Memorial Lecture, is named in honour of Professor M. R. Rao, former Dean of ISB. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Vishal Gaur.

Professor, Anne and Elmer Lindseth Dean of the Johnson Graduate School of Management

Vishal Gaur is the Anne and Elmer Lindseth Dean and professor of operations, technology, and information management at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. Gaur earned his PhD from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and a BTech in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

Submission for Student Paper Competition

We invite submissions from senior PhD students and postdocs for a student paper competition. All submissions should contain a senior PhD student and/or a post-doctoral fellow as an author.  All submission should be made as a single PDF file. Top three selected students will be invited for a presentation during one of the sessions and will be awarded prize money.

Submission guidelines

  • The submitting author and presenter must be a current doctoral (or equivalent degree) student or post-doctoral researcher.
  • The paper must not be published or accepted in any journal; submitted or under review is acceptable.
  • Full papers must not exceed 32 pages with 1.5 spacing and 1 inch margins (POMS formatting).
  • Please submit the full paper to isb_poms@isb.edu by June 6, 2026. 
  • Three finalists will be announced by June 17, 2026, who will present their work in the workshop.

Registration

Registration Fees and Expenses: The registration fee for non-student attendees is INR 8000 and INR 2500 for student attendees. Registration fees will be waived for the finalists of the student competition. On-site registration during the workshop is strictly subject to the availability of seating capacity.
