Research Summary of the Faculty
Professor: Anusuya Banerjee
I am a new Assistant Professor at ISB who conducts research on how emotions and psychobiology influence individuals and groups in organizations, and how organizations can take the lead in managing and regulating these things to improve outcomes at all levels. My goal is to push forward a large and diverse portfolio of research projects over the next two years. The selected RA will be an essential part of helping me complete these projects so that they can be turned into high quality journal submissions. (Note: if/when the selected RA provides substantial support across multiple areas of the research process, there may be opportunities to co-author. The earliest such opportunity will most likely be for review or theory paper that is currently early stage.)

Roles and Responsibilities
You will provide assistance to the faculty by supporting ongoing research in the following areas:
- Data collection
Collecting data from online panels, lab study participants, archival data sources and field sources. This may include any or all of the following: preparing measures and protocols, organizing logistics, and running studies. - Data cleaning
Prep data for analysis by cleaning and processing raw data. Note that types of data may vary significantly from project to project, so requirements will vary by dataset. - Data analysis
Utilize a range of statistical methods to analyse different types of data whether cross-sectional or longitudinal (e.g., simple multilinear regression, mixed effects models, hierarchical linear modelling, structural equation modelling). Potential use of specialized methods for analysis of verbal and non-verbal language in audio and video data. - Literature review
Conduct literature reviews, including for the preparation of integral review and theory paper submissions. (Note: literature reviews for the development of submissions to journals like Academy of Management Annals and Academy of Management Review are more intensive than quick reviews done in the initial stages of a quantitative project. Requires strong reading comprehension in English.)
Required Skills and Qualifications
Basic qualifications & skills:
- Strong logical thinker.
- Strong critical thinker.
- Distinguished educational background in statistics (high performance in a Bachelors or Master’s program in Statistics or a related quantitative or social science field).
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience conducting statistical analyses in the social sciences (e.g., psychology, economics, sociology, public health).
- Strong coding proficiency in at least one language (and an openness and aptitude for learning others).
- Strong English proficiency (speaking, writing, reading comprehension).
Specific skills & abilities:
- Ability to take guidance on key objectives and overarching processes, then ask critical/essential clarifying questions, then translate that it to actionable steps, and then execute with minimal direction.
- Ability to communicate thinking and approach behind analysis and code, and adjust based on feedback.
- Ability and openness to take and address feedback swiftly.
- Openness and motivation to learn new things, including taking the initiative to find and use resources to learn how to do these things (e.g., new methods).
- Takes initiative to do/take on more tasks when they see opportunities to better (or more efficiently) meet project objectives.
- Makes intelligent and transparent use of AI resources (e.g., to produce code you are equipped to correct - or to check code you have produced).
- Specialized experience in one or more of the following is a plus but not required: sentiment analysis or other analysis of verbal/nonverbal communication (in terms of vocalics, kinesics).
