About the INFUSION Project |
‘Indian Food Systems for Improved Nutrition’ (INFUSION) is a collaborative research initiative led by the University of Sheffield, UK together with London School of Health and Tropical Medicine, UK, Bharti Institute of Public Policy, ISB, ICMR’s National Institute of Nutrition, BRLPS~JEEViKA and MicroSave Consulting. Recognizing the importance of, and challenges in making nutrient-dense foods accessible, available and affordable to low-income populations through market-based models, INFUSION aims to set up a policy-support research unit to assist government agencies and to provide policymakers with high quality research evidence in Bihar. The INFUSION and JEEViKA team have co-developed multiple innovative intervention areas for this collaboration during project preparation. The broad framework for collaboration is based upon JEEViKA implementing and resourcing the interventions and INFUSION undertaking and resourcing the research aspects, with both the team working closely together to ensure attainment of nutrition improvement and livelihood development as well as achievement of research and evidence objectives. |
Job Purpose |
Bharti Institute of Public Policy, ISB in association with the University of Sheffield, UK and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is setting up a Research Project Unit to support agriculture-nutrition policy convergence in the state of Bihar, where government stakeholders of both agriculture and nutrition would identify synergies, collaborate and work together, at the level of both policy design and programs, towards improving nutrition outcomes amongst low income populations in underserved districts of the state by building improving accessibility, availability and affordability of Nutrition Dense Foods (NDFs) amongst these targeted segment of population, with a focus on NDFs, and emphasis on market-based approaches. The Research Project Manager will play a critical role for the success of INFUSION. S/he will be responsible for effective coordination with the stakeholders, driving the field progress and achieving the core objectives of the research project with collaborative knowledge and communication outcomes. |
Job Outline |
S/he will lead the successful execution of the research project and will be responsible for coordination, execution and achievement of the project outcomes over the envisaged period of the project. S/he will ensure and enable the operationalizing of the INFUSION model in the selected blocks of the pilot districts of Bihar. We are seeking to appoint a professionally qualified and suitably experienced resource who can start as early as possible to effectively coordinate field data collection, stakeholder consultation, co-designing action plans and implementation of market-based intervention while facilitating adoption of the research findings and communicating the project outcomes related to Nutrition Security and Livelihood Development in JEEViKA. The position will be based in Patna, with significant travel to Samastipur, Bhojpur, Nalanda, other districts and other pilot/intervention areas. · Extensive experience in working in development sector or with State Governments / Agencies preferably in Bihar or neighboring states. · Proficient in providing technical support related to designing, planning, and implementation of programs/projects preferably in MCH, Nutrition & Public Health domains. · Demonstrated ability to work with low-income households, women’s groups and community led institutions within high impact / transformative interventions. Prior experience of working with BRLPS/JEEViKA will have distinct preference. · Expertise in stakeholders’ management, project coordination, monitoring and supporting field operations preferably across multiple districts/state. · Proficiency in data collection, analysis and progress reporting shall be added advantage. |
