Beginning her assignment in August 2016, Consul General Jennifer Daubeny leads the charge in promoting relations between Canada and Southern India including the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Born in British Columbia, Canada, Daubeny holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (1984) from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Public Administration (1990) from the University of Victoria.

Daubeny joined the Canadian diplomatic service in 1988 and has held various posts through her career, primarily in trade. Notably, in 1995, she opened and headed Canada’s first consulate in Guadalajara, Mexico. More recently she served as Senior Trade Commissioner at Canada’s High Commission in London, from 2009 to 2013. Immediately prior to her posting in India, Ms. Daubeny served as the Director of the Science, Technology and Innovation Division at Global Affairs Canada, from January 2015 until August 2016.

Speaking about her new position as the Head of Canada’s mission in Bengaluru, Consul General Daubeny said, “I had early exposure to Indian culture and food through close family friends in British Columbia. I am very excited to be representing Canada in such a diverse and fascinating country and supporting Canadian interests in Southern India, including enhancing the profile of Canada in this region. On a personal level, I am looking forward to exploring the amazing natural and man-made sites in the region and trying a wide range of Indian foods.”
