Our First Book

The first book in the series, The Last Mile-Turning Public Policy Upside Down, authored by Amarjeet Sinha, IAS (Retd.) focuses on the challenges of the last mile in the diverse social development sector. It covers education, health, nutrition, sustainable agriculture, poverty reduction, housing, employment, livelihood, skills, and decentralised governance sectors.

About the Author

Amarjeet Sinha is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer (Retd.) of Bihar Cadre, 1983 batch. With four decades of social development engagement, Sinha, last held the office of Secretary, Department of Rural Development, Govt. of India. Mr. Sinha was appointed as the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister in February 2020 to oversee projects related to the social sector. He played a key role in designing Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (national mission for school education) and the National Rural Health Mission. Among the notable schemes and flagship programmes which were steered by Mr. Sinha are MGNREGA, PMAY(Gramin), PMGSY, Rurban Mission, National Rural Livelihoods Mission, Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (youth employment scheme), to name a few. He has published several books and scores of articles in various publications including Lancet, Economic and Political Weekly, The Economic Times, The Hindu, Business Standard, Hindustan Times, etc. 

Launch of the First Book in this Series:

The first book in this series will be launched at the India International Centre, on 26th October 2023. The event will focus on conversations around an inclusive, developed India, that provides social opportunities to every Indian citizen to develop their fullest human potential.
