About

Sustainability at Hyderabad and Mohali Campuses

The self-sustaining ISB campuses in Hyderabad and Mohali span 240 and 70 acres, respectively. The buildings on both campuses are planned and constructed to meet LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) sustainability standards. Additionally, the campuses have been rated as IGBC Platinum Rated for Operations

Both the campuses have energy-efficient mechanical and electrical fixtures, low waterflow plumbing fixtures, energy efficient elevators, solar water heating, geothermal air-conditioning, basement lighting through solar PV, a building management system, Japanese modular wave rainwater harvesting, extensive use of natural daylight, and passive environmental controls.

The campuses are equipped with state-of-the-art learning infrastructure, including lecture theatres, auditoriums, high-definition video conferencing, seamless access to digital and online library resources, and cashless payment options using smart cards. They also feature fully serviced apartments for students and faculty, cafeterias and cafes, sports and recreational facilities, and support services such as banking, communication, convenience stores, and medical facilities.

Mission

  • Plan, design, and maintain world-class infrastructure.
  • Deliver outstanding services that make living and working on campus comfortable and productive.
  • Promote sustainability as a way of life.
  • Nurture an environment that is conducive to teaching, learning, work, and research.
  • Reduce the environmental impact on the locality through better management of natural resources, tree planting, and improved indoor air quality.

Carbon Audit Report

ISB is committed to creating a sustainable future for all its stakeholders by establishing a comprehensive action plan for sustainability. It has set clear goals and priorities for green initiatives in its courses and the functioning of its campuses. It also encourages students and staff to plan, create, and act upon any such opportunities.

The school has engaged the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to carry out a carbon emissions footprint study for its Hyderabad and Mohali campuses. The Greenhouse gas (GHG) emission study was conducted in line with the GHG Protocol developed jointly by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). This audit includes Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
