Head, Principal Scientist, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute

Professor Soora Naresh Kumar is the Head and Principal Scientist at the Centre for Environment Science and Climate Resilient Agriculture (now Division of Environmental Sciences), ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India with about 30 years of research experience on climate change adaptation research and simulation modeling in agriculture. He is the lead of assessments on IVA on agriculture for India’s National Communication to UNFCCC through MoEF &CC, GoI. Principal Investigator of NMSA (NICRA), NMSHE (Ag-Taskforce) and MoEF&CC projects on IVA and climate resilient agriculture. He is also the Global Steering Council Member of the Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP), led by NASA and Columbia University, USA; GoI as well as IPCC Expert Reviewer for IPCC reports; Expert member in WMO; BIS; DST and published over 150 research papers; created adaptation evidences in several villages through adaptation interventions. He also developed process based models for several crops.
