In a first, Bharti Institute of Public Policy held Public Policy Dialogues on the theme “Bridging Research and Practice” from January 4-6 at ISB Hyderabad Campus and provided a unique platform to delve on multiple public policy issues focusing on challenges and innovations, facilitating collaborations and interactions and bringing a congregation of policy researchers, practitioners, thinktanks, policymakers, media and academia under one roof.
From Public Policy design to mitigating policy friction to presenting innovative solutions in implementing public policy and governance to taking a critical look at the open data ecosystem in India, data privacy, telecom frauds and regulatory issues to policy on climate change, environmental issues to India’s transition to alternative sources of energy—the conclave was all encompassing.
During the inaugural plenary of the three-day conclave, Prof. Ashwini Chhatre, addressing all the guests and attendees, in his keynote address, said, “The Public Policy Dialogues bring together a plethora of stakeholders including researchers, policy makers and practitioners to scan for future possibilities in public policy design and implementation. This is a platform for an exchange where people with different voices in the same room have come together to express their opinion as equal stakeholders.”
Adding another feature to its cap, Bharti Institute of Public Policy, will be holding the Public Policy Dialogues annually as a space to forge new, and strengthen the existing collaborations on Public Policy.
Building on the motivation of the first Public Policy Dialogues, Prof. Ashwini Chhatre, said, “We have created a space where experts can come and talk to each other, share ideas, instead of being talked to from the stage. We tried to create opportunities where participants from different walks of life could find each other as professional soulmates and forge collaborations so that when they come back next year and have even more to report and there will be other kindred souls that they will be able to connect to.”
