ISB organised the 8th Asian Invitational Conference on Family Business

The Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise, Indian School of Business (ISB) organised the 8th Asian Invitational Conference on Family Business from February 4 – 5, 2023. The conference theme was ‘Future of Family Business.’

There were 28 prominent family business leaders and experts who shared their experiences and advice with over 250 conference delegates. These delegates were mainly members of the family business community, who came from Sri Lanka and Nepal, besides India. The conference sessions covered various topics relevant to the family business, such as: Next Generation in Family Business, Women in Leadership and Governance, Protecting and Growing Family Wealth, Learnings from Global Family Businesses, Development of Human Capital, Implementing Family Philanthropy, Family Governance – How to Manage Conflicts and Build Lasting Family Businesses, and Managing Family Business in Crisis and Building Resilience in Business and Family.

There was a special session to celebrate the extraordinary life of Late Shri Rahul Bajaj, with his son Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director, Bajaj Finserv Limited, President, Confederation of Indian Industry and Board Member, Indian School of Business, in conversation with Ajit Rangnekar, Director General, Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad and Former Dean, Indian School of Business.

Prominent speakers at the conference included- Dr Dieter Spalti, Vice Chairman, Spectrum Value Management Limited; Dr Aravind Srinivasan, Chief Medical Officer, Aravind Eye Hospital; Lavanya Nalli, Chairperson, Nalli Group; Vijay Dalmia, President and Director, MLD Group of Companies; Vanitha Datla, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director, Elico Limited; Peter Leach, Adjunct Professor, Family Business, Imperial College Business School; Valerie Remoquillo-Jenni, Chief Executive Officer, Fourfold Foundation; G V Prasad, Co-Chairman and Managing Director, Dr Reddy’s; Professor Kavil Ramachandran, ISB; Professor Sougata Ray, ISB, and Dr Nupur Pavan Bang, ISB.

The conference is a part of the initiatives of the Centre to sensitise and build capabilities in family businesses across Asia. It offers members of the family business community a platform to network, reflect, and share ideas and experiences. This is a unique event in Asia that offers great value to family businesses and is highly appreciated by the delegates.
