Dr. Shruti Mantri, Associate Director at ISB Institute of Data Science (IIDS), was invited as a speaker by INTERPOL to speak on 'Threats of Digital Piracy-The Piracy Malware Nexus' at the INTERPOL Global Meeting on Digital Piracy held recently in Lyon, France.

In her talk, she highlighted findings from a study undertaken by IIDS that accessing pirate sites significantly increases the risk of cyber-attacks for Indian consumers and that the risk of downloading malware from piracy sites is 2.03 times higher than mainstream websites. She also said that even though people aged 18-24 are likelier to access piracy sites, they have the lowest awareness of cyber risks. Given these statistics, the Indian Government and Law Enforcement must prioritize digital copyright crimes, enhancing training and resources to combat these threats effectively.
