She belongs to the promoter group of the Kirloskar family, that controls Kirloskar Brothers Limited, a 133-year-old engineering conglomerate. She is a lateral thinker, is invited as part of a jury for many start-up and entrepreneurship contests. Being part of a manufacturing family business she lends her thoughts in different aspects of the business. She works with many manufacturing companies and entrepreneurs, to see synergies between the two or give technology support to manufacturing with such entrepreneurs. Mrs. Pratima Kirloskar is one of the Founders and Ex-President of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Pune Chapter, an international not-forprofit organisation that promotes entrepreneurs by mentoring, networking and connecting them to funding agencies. She is the President of Innovations Society, (a platform helping entrepreneurs and start-ups, to connect with industry, to fill specific gaps). She is the Chairperson of Vikas Charitable Trust (VCT), that runs an 87 year old primary and high school and an 87 year old health care centre and works with 40 schools in and around the Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) factory in Kirloskarvadi. She has been a trustee on several NGOs working with women and children in the areas of health, education and livelihood. She is currently a: • Chairperson, CII FBN (India) Western Region Chapter for the year 2022-23 • Convenor, CII Maharashtra Panel on Entrepreneurship Development and Employment Generation for the year 2022-23 • CII Yi Next Board • Member - CII National Innovation Council • Member - CII National Startups Award Committee. • CII Pune Zip startup Task Force • Member of the Executive committee of FICCI - Maharashtra State Council for the year 2023 • Trustee on the Pune Police Public Foundation, that runs a School for the education of children of Police Constables, which is subsidised by non-police admissions who are charged full tuition • On the advisory committee of the Pune Knowledge Cluster (started by the Scientific Advisor to the Government of India) – to connect researchers, academicians and industry Over the last few years she has also: • Co-Chaired the National CSR committee of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with Mr. Mukund Rajan in 2016-17, 2017-2018 • Been on the Governing Council of KIAMS (Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies) as one of the members of the founder promoter organisation • Was a trustee on Pratham Pune which is an education NGO that teaches children to read and write and make sure all children have an opportunity to go to school • Worked with several NGOs in the field of health , livelihood and education for women and children • Conducted sessions on ‘patents’ and ‘how to apply for a grant’, along with Dr Bhattacharyya, NIH (National Institute of Health), USA • On the Governing Council of the India Design Council (a Government of India body) Mrs. Pratima Kirloskar worked with the Pune Municipal corporation and started www.ourpune.com, an automated website for a social cause, in 2007. The website received complaints about roads in Pune city while keeping the complainant details anonymous. It had an escalation programme of 36 hours for the completion of road repair work. An exception report of work not done was presented to the Municipal Commissioner every day. This made a noticeable difference in the time taken to repair or upgrade roads. She enjoys working with weavers, especially using natural fabric, which she converts into table linen and home furnishing.
