What is "Daan Utsav"?

What is 'Daan Utsav'?

Daan Utsav, (formerly known as Joy of Giving Week) is a "festival of giving" that aims to bring together Indians all across the country and abroad through different acts of giving- money, time, skills or resources. The Week was launched in 2009 and will be held every year starting on a Sunday and ending on a Saturday, containing October 2 within.

What is 'Shadow-a-CEO'

Shadow a CEO is a unique program organized by Indian School of Business (ISB) as part of Daan Utsav (earlier known as the Joy of Giving Week) to inculcate the habit of giving among the youth of India and provide them with an opportunity to interact up close with the country’s most successful managerial talent. The program has been a great success since its launch in 2009.
The objective of Shadow a CEO is two-fold:

• Engage the youth in the act of giving
• Provide them with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to observe and learn lessons by spending a day with some of the biggest CXOs in India

The students bid for the CXO of their choice in a live auction. The CXO has an option to match the winning bid and the collective corpus goes to a charity of the CXO's choice.

Can I participate?

The event is open to current students of Post Graduate Program of the following B-Schools:

•        Indian School of Business
•        Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad
•        Indian Institute of Management, Banglore
•        Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta
•        Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow
•        XLRI, Jamshedpur

How can I register?

The registration link will be activated shortly. Please note that you can register using your official institute email ID only. Personal email IDs will not be accepted by the system.

What is the minimum and the maximum amount I can bid on a CXO?

The bid starts at Rs 5000 and can go up to a maximum value of Rs. 5 lakhs.

Who are the CXO's participating in the event?

Please check CXOs On-Board for the list and profiles of CXOs who are part of Shadow-A-CEO this year. We are constantly working on getting more CXOs and so this list will be constantly updated until the actual bidding takes place.

How many CXOs can I bid for at a time?

You can keep adding/ dropping the CXOs during the entire bidding window. However, at most you can bid for only three CXOs at a time.

This year, for most CXOs, the winning candidate will be selected on the basis of the bidding amount. If the bidding winner is unable to co-operate within 1 week, the opportunity will be passed to the next highest bidder.

More details on exact process for each CXO will be shared closer to the bidding dates.

How many CXOs can I shadow?

You can shadow only one CXO in the final event.

If I win, when will I get to shadow the CXO?

At the time of registration, you will be asked to enter your top three preferred dates, between February 2022 to May 2022 for your availability to shadow the CXO. The final date will be decided based on the mutual convenience of the CXO and the bid-winning student.

In case of a conflict, CXO's preferred date will be given priority and the student with the next highest bid and matched preference will get the chance to shadow that particular CXO.

What if I am unable to attend shadowing session? Will I get a refund of my bid amount?

If you win a bid but are unable to attend the shadowing session post confirmation of the date, you will not be refunded any amount. The bid amount shall still be payable. Non-payment shall result in an administrative action against you. However, we will do our best to coordinate a suitable date between the student and CXO.

Who will bear travel, lodging expenses for the day when I shadow the CXO?

All travel and lodging expenses to and in the city of shadowing shall be borne by the student. Certain expenses, such as travel during the shadowing period or factory visits might be sponsored by the CXOs office.
