Operations and Supply Chain have emerged as the high growth sectors in India. Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, had launched the ‘Make in India’ programme to place India on the world map as a manufacturing hub and give global recognition to the Indian economy. India is expected to overtake Germany to become the fourth-largest economy in the world by the end of the year 2026.
The new growth trajectory will result in the need for skills, other than just domain competency. Proactiveness and understanding of market competition will be essential skills for success in the Operations and Supply Chain sector. Indian players must develop a better strategy to understand their customers and the changing patterns, to remain competitive against China.
Professionals at the middle and senior management levels, belonging to the operations & supply chain domain, need to acquire competencies like innovation, data analysis, competitive strategy, negotiation skills etc., to remain relevant in the highly competitive business landscape.
