Research Environment

Research Environment

The Indian School of Business (ISB) provides a robust environment that generates high-quality research which is both contemporary and rigorous.

The ISB is among the few schools in the world that undertakes research with a focus on emerging and transitional economies, striving to create synergies between India, Asia, and the global business environment. The past and ongoing research projects at ISB have dealt with not only business problems encountered by the corporate houses but have also aimed to resolve socio-economic challenges like health care, Indian food-value chain, exploring safe deposit schemes for poor, affordable housing etc.

In addition, the ISB is one of the only institutions in the world to establish dedicated, research oriented Centres of Excellence. The Centres of Excellence provide a forum where knowledge and understanding of business is fostered between the academic and the corporate worlds in several key areas including- investment, finance, leadership, entrepreneurship, family business, information technology and emerging markets.

A proficient pool of research-oriented resident and visiting faculty from top management institutions worldwide provides the essential thrust to ISB’s research milieu. The resident faculty members are highly-acclaimed in their respective domains of expertise and are regularly published in top-tier journals. Conferences, seminars and workshops that draw thought leaders from the global business community, the Government and academia, provide a rich and diverse forum for presenting front line research work and discussing important issues of global interest.

The ISB’s strong research acumen has helped bring knowledge and competencies to benefit industry and society, not only in India, but across Asia and the rest of the world.

India Advantage

India Advantage

India is closely associated with future growth and expansion because of the myriad opportunities available in the country. With its new economic policies and a stable political scenario, India is emerging fast as the next economic powerhouse and is set to be one of the top three economies of the world.

Most organisations around the world already have a significant presence in India and many plan to set up their operations in the country in the near future. These organisations hire individuals who are astute with the Indian market and business culture for various roles, which are based either in or outside India.

At the Indian School of Business (ISB), you not only gain an insight into the Indian business environment but also have the opportunity develop a wealth of networks through your interactions with industry leaders, current students and ISB alumni.

International Exposure

International Exposure

At the Indian School of Business (ISB), we believe that international exposure plays a major role when you want to succeed in today’s economy. Therefore, at the ISB you are able to develop cultural awareness along with foreign language proficiency. This helps you to understand the world marketplace through various factors.

The faculty at ISB has experience with some of the leading business schools or corporations. As the School has gained international recognition, research scholars from around the world visit ISB on long-term sabbaticals. We also have visiting faculty from Wharton, Kellogg, London Business School, Cornell, Chicago, Duke, and UCLA teaching at the ISB.

A large percentage of our students come with international graduate degrees in various fields and/or global work experience, bringing a unique flavour to the campus.

Our programmes, such as the International Student Exchange Programme for PGP students, give an opportunity to study for two terms at other leading business schools. The ISB has partnerships with 42 leading schools from the USA, France, South Africa, Israel, Germany, China, Pakistan and the UK for exchange programmes. Visiting students add to the diversity and peer learning experience on campus.

Our Executive programmes are delivered by global business leaders and some programmes are held in association with our partner schools. The international conferences and workshops draw thought leaders from the global business community, policy makers and academia.

Unique Associations

Unique Associations

The Indian School of Business (ISB) has academic alliances with the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, London Business School (LBS), and The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University.

This association brings in the best of global management practices and thinking into the ISB curriculum. ISB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kellogg School of Management and the Wharton School in November 1997, which provides for sharing of expertise and academic resources. Kellogg and Wharton have infused the best and latest in global management practices and thinking into ISB's academic purview by helping to design the curriculum and develop the course material. Most importantly, faculty and researchers from these institutions regularly teach at the ISB and also participate in research at the School.

In November 2000, the ISB also tied up with the London Business School (LBS), one of Europe’s top business schools. LBS collaborates closely for sharing faculty and research ideas, and has contributed to developing ISB's Executive Education Programmes.

In April 2010, ISB signed a MoU with the MIT Sloan School of Management to develop two new institutes at ISB’s upcoming campus at Mohali: BML Munjal Institute for Manufacturing Excellence and Innovation, and Punj Lloyd Institute for Physical Infrastructure. The institutes are now known as Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing and Punj Lloyd Institute of Infrastructure Management.

In December 2010, ISB signed a MoU with the Fletcher School, Tufts University, for the Bharti Institute of Public Policy. The collaboration between the two schools is envisaged to cover faculty exchange opportunities, curriculum development, research and teaching support, research projects, joint executive education programmes, workshops and conferences.

In April 2011, ISB signed a MoU with The Wharton School to develop the Max Institute of Healthcare Management, thus adding a new dimension to the relationship that was formed in 1997.

Accreditation

Accreditation

The Indian School of Business (ISB) is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).

Both AACSB and EFMD are internationally acclaimed accreditation institutions focused on raising the standards of management education worldwide. With this, ISB joins the group of about  hundred select business schools worldwide that have both AACSB and EQUIS accreditations.

Both the accreditations recognise an institution as a whole after evaluating the institution’s focus on internationalisation and ethics, its connections with the corporate world, and how it balances between academic and managerial relevance. The accreditations reflect ISB’s position as a pivotal player which will shape tomorrow’s global management education landscape.

ISB was the first B school in South Asia to get the AACSB accreditation in 2011 and re-accreditation in 2017.
