Biography

An alumnus of National Defence Academy, Commander Syed Qais Hayat has 20 years of work experience in the Indian Navy’s Executive Branch. As a specialist, he has led weapon teams and later planned at Fleet level many successful gun/ missile firings from frontline warships. He has also commanded four formidable Indian Naval Ships. The officer is the recipient of coveted Scudder medal for topping the Staff course at the prestigious Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. The officer is also an International Law graduate from Defence Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS), RI, USA. He is currently handling Indian Navy’s Operational Logistics at South Block, Ministry of Defence (Navy).
