Programme Format

The AMPBA is a part-time, blended learning program for working professionals, starting with an asynchronous Bootcamp on Python, R, SQL and Linear Algebra, followed by Foundation Term modules on Statistics, Probability, Data Collection and Visualization. The main coursework covers 5 terms with five-day campus residencies complemented by weekend online sessions. The program concludes with a three-month industry-sponsored Capstone Project. This structure provides comprehensive analytics education while minimizing career disruption, enabling professional growth without requiring a career break.

Participants attend classes at the ISB campus over five residencies of five days each, scheduled every alternate month. During a residency, participants attend day-long classes, and spend their evenings on co-curricular learning engagements. Participants are required to stay on campus during these residencies.

An online interactive technology platform complements classroom-based learning that occurs during residencies. This platform will be used predominantly for tutorials, mentoring, delivering Foundation-Term modules and at times for course content.

Participants are expected to make maximum use of the learning resources offered, for a seamless learning experience. The resources may include textbooks, business cases, videos, etc. Apart from classroom attendance, participants are expected to dedicate 10-12 hours every week towards assignments, project work, and session pre-readings.

Applied Learning

Foundational Project

The Foundational Project runs through the programme, and cuts across its various modules. This helps participants build capabilities to solve different business problems, by integrating classroom learning from various courses.

Capstone Project

The Capstone Project is an important component of the programme. It offers participants an opportunity to apply their overall course learning to solve real-world business problems. Each participant group is mentored by a faculty member and an industry mentor, to integrate theoretical and practical aspects. Participants have an option to work on a live project from their organisation. Alternatively, the Programme Office allows them to bid for projects that it brings from other organisations.

Past participants have worked on Capstone Projects in various domains from reputed organisations such as ABP News, Accenture, Ashok Leyland, Bharti Airtel, Capgemini, Cognizant, Cyient, Deloitte, DXC Technology, Expedia, Flextronics, Ford Motors, Franklin Templeton, Gartner, GE Digital, HP Global Analytics, IL&FS, iNautix (BNY Mellon), Infosys, KPMG, L&T Infotech, Microsoft, MuSigma, INTT Data, Polaris (now Virtusa), Reliance Games, Snapdeal, Star TV, S&P Global, Variance.ai, Vodafone, Walmart, and many more.

Peer Learning

Peer learning from experienced fellow participants who are ready to make an impact in the Business Analytics domain and grow together. Graduated participants will join an eminent group of Business Analytics alumni (1700+) working in the industry as Data Scientists, heads of Analytics, and even founders and CXOs.

Pre-course reading materials which are in the form of textbooks, cases, articles etc., will be made available to all participants in advance. Participants are expected to spend 8 to 10 hours per week studying the material before they commence classes each term. Online assessments and pre-course projects are also incorporated in the programme to ensure academic rigour.

An integral part of the AMPBA is interactions with industry speakers and regular visits to relevant organisations throughout the course. These sessions will be part of almost every module and will be designed to enhance the understanding of the concepts of the module from a practitioner’s perspective, making it easier to apply the learning immediately.

Simulations help maximise on classroom learning as the decisions that the participants have to make in these simulations replicate the kind of decisions they would encounter in their respective organisations. They let participants apply the management theories learnt in class to a simulated business environment and evaluate the results of their decisions.

Action learning is an essential pedagogical tool that is designed to give participants a chance to practice their management theories in real life scenarios.

There will be an action learning project, which will be performed individually or under a mentor/ guide from ISB. This will be accomplished by the participant personally and will either be selected by the participant on his own or will be given to the participant from the individual’s organisation
