G V Prasad

Co-Chairman and Managing Director, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories      

G V Prasad is Co-Chairman and Managing Director of the $2.3 billion India-based multinational pharmaceutical company, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

Prasad joined the board of Dr Reddy’s in 1986 and took on a full time role as Managing Director, leading one of the group companies, Cheminor Drugs Ltd in 1990.  Upon the merger of all the group companies, he assumed the role of the CEO of the combined entity in 2001.  Prasad’s leadership and strategic initiatives were the driving force behind the company’s transformation from a mid-sized domestic operation into a trans-national entity with a presence in over 30 countries.  He has led the global expansion of the company, especially into developed markets, through both organic and inorganic moves.

Prasad’s emphasis on innovation, transparency, business ethics and governance has helped shape Dr. Reddy’s into what it is today - an organization of global repute, recognized industry-wide for scientific innovation, progressive people practices and high standards of corporate governance.

Currently, Prasad as Co-Chairman and Managing Director focuses on mentoring leaders, driving innovation in science, technology and digitalization while championing the values and long-term orientation of the company.

Prasad also ensures the company is well positioned for the future, drawing upon his 35 years of leadership experience in the Pharmaceutical industry.  He helps the company anticipate trends, envision the future of healthcare and co-create this future state.

Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility are close to Prasad’s heart and he has ensured the adoption of sustainable technologies and practices, thereby reducing the company’s ecological footprint. He has been closely involved with a number of social sector organizations and higher education institutions and strives to foster responsible capitalism that views positive social impact as a primary goal.

Prasad is involved with the activities of the World Wildlife Fund, AP and Telangana chapter, Wild Life Trust (WTI) of India and other conservation-oriented organizations.
