Job Purpose

This is a research position in an academic setting. The successful candidate will carry out research activities within the mission and strategy of MIHM in one or more of its research themes: (i) Health System Design, (ii) Innovation and Entrepreneurship, (iii) Public Policy and Financing, (iv) Behavioral Change under close guidance and supervision of ISB faculty members.

Job Outline

The job duties include aligning methodologies with research goals, using a range of tools to acquire information and interpret data, writing up reports and presenting findings and schedules to different stakeholders, identifying trends and patterns, conducting fieldwork and tests when required, as well as protecting databases and confidential information. The person will be responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing data, and explore issues. The project is related to Tuberculosis patients so they will work closely with hospitals, patients, medical staffs, and other stakeholders.

About the project: Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is running two pilots with 1mg, a for-profit private digital consumer healthcare platform, to provide PPSA services to patients seeking TB care in the private sector. In the selected districts, CHAI staff members did an initial provider mapping and engagement for both the pilots while 1mg staff remained responsible for providing PPSA services. Pilot 1, called Faridabad PPSA, was launched in Aug '20 in Faridabad, where patients face 1mg PPSA services from sample collection, reporting, and FDC delivery at the doorstep to treatment counseling and medication adherence support. Pilot 2, called Drug Delivery Pilot, was launched in Jul '20 in Ahmedabad, Surat, and parts of Delhi. Here, 1mg focuses on improving the accessibility of government Fixed Dose Combinations (FDC) at the doorstep to patients and adherence support through e-pharmacy. In this pilot, JEET PPSA staff are supporting the TB diagnosis.

Over the past few years, other for-profit organizations have grown across the country, providing JEET PPSA services for TB care. These organizations use robust technology platforms to offer services ranging from drug delivery, sample collection and transport, patient counseling to online consultations. The key differences between 1mg pilots and other PPSA models are (i) payment structure and (ii) services provided by the implementation agency. Although PPSAs models have been evaluated in the past, these differences necessitate another evaluation of these specific care delivery models. In this study, we aim to evaluate these models on the defined objectives.
